Nimrod Has Been Homed

Nimrod greyhound black male

Nimrod has been homed.

He is a very friendly, affectionate, leggy, black, castrated male who was born in August 2010.

Nimrod walks nicely on a lead, he travels well although he needs persuading to get into a car for his outings (more on that below).

He has met other breeds of dog and given us no cause for concern around them. Initially  he is very interested and seems busy computing and working out what the oddly shaped fluffy thing is. Once calm he scents and realising that the unfamiliar shaped animal is a dog and he then loses interest quite quickly. Nimrod lacks familiarity with other breeds and in a  greyhound kennel environment it is impossible for him to socialise daily and become familiar.

We feel that Nimrod will learn good approaches and responses very quickly when he’s out and about in the real world every day. He is very responsive to correction and wants to please. He also enjoys playing with toys so perhaps a toy reward may help with training him?

Nimrod loves tennis balls, he can actually do proper fetch with one of those (unusual in a kennel hound), but it is still rather “on his terms” is a get bored quickly.

Nimrod is a lad with a huge amount of potential to make a cracking pet. He needs a family however who ooze confidence and won’t be “twisted around his paw” as he has some strange “hang ups” that he could easily get over with confident handling.

For example his aversion to getting into a car: For some people he will do it for others he’s impossible. It seems to be a case of tell him and give him no choice and he does it, try to persuade or cajole him and he become the one to decide on the rules of the game and simply refuses.
