Fiona's Greyhound Blog: The Great Greyhound Gathering 2012

Last Saturday I took Hazel, Monty and Aisha to the Great Greyhound Gathering in Nottingham. It was a warm day that gradually got hotter and the dogs were very well behaved.

I had entered all 3 dogs into various dog shows, Hazel into best bitch over 7 years, Monty best dog over 7 years, Aisha best bitch 2 – 5 years (which she missed because Hazel was in the ring at the same time) and best black greyhound bitch. All of them showed themselves off well and the ones not in the ring at any given time had to be tied to railings outside the ring and mostly waited patiently and quietly. However Monty was the real star and got placed third in the best black greyhound dog, winning a yellow rosette.

To achieve this he had to beat around 25 – 30 other dogs of all ages. He stood nicely, waited patiently and trotted well (taken round the ring by another greyhound owner as I can’t ‘trot’). He was on best behavior and I was very proud of him.
All three dogs had to do a lot of standing or lying around while I watched other shows and walking about looking at various stalls. They were all very good and I was proud of them all but especially proud of Monty.

Monty 3rd in Best Black Greyhound Dog at GGG 2012

Monty did really well and won third place in the Best Black Greyhound Dog competition at the Great Greyhound Gathering 2012 at Nottingham.
