Paul's Greyhound Blog - Dodger's Follow Up Visit

On Saturday 25th February Dodger had a lovely surprise when Sian came round to visit for the evening. He was absolutely delighted to see her, his tail was wagging as fast as it could and he was dancing around the lounge. He certainly remembered Sian and everything she had done for him when he was in the kennels in Fleet and clearly the affection for her was very much in evidence as can been seen in the photos included.

After the greetings were over and Dodger had settled down, a cup of tea, cakes and a discussion about Dodger as a dog in the kennels and Sian’s work with him on day’s out proved very enlightening. We told Sian how well Dodger had settled in and that he is now well and truly embedded in our family and he is a real character as well.

Sian was invited to take Dodger out for his evening walk and we took him for his usual walk with Sian in control of the lead. Dodger walked very nicely and Sian enjoyed the opportunity to walk him again.

On arrival back home from the walk Dodger cuddled up to Sian again for some more affection whilst we had another cup of tea and more cakes.

Sian also gave him a treat she had brought with her which he duly devoured. He had noticed that there were two in the packet and went in search of the second one that had been hidden, even picking up and shaking Sian’s cardigan in the search for the treat, no fooling the delightful Dodger.

We then showed Sian some racing videos of Dodger at Clonmel in Ireland one of which races he won. It’s so satisfying to be able to watch the dog you have adopted racing before retirement.

Sian was so pleased to see that Dodger has fully settled into his forever home and we are grateful to her for helping him, along with the team at Greyhound Lifeline, to be the dog he is today a fine example of a Greyhound making a wonderful pet.
