April 2008
It had been over six months since that emotional day when Milgi had slipped his collar and gone missing. Thankfully, all memory of it was slipping deeper into my subconscious, only to resurface on those occasions when I had the privilege of sitting with my greyhounds at the end of another busy day.
Early February 2008
We had expected to see changes in Milgi upon the arrival of Meg. After all, one of the reasons why we had thought it a good idea to introduce another greyhound to our household was because we had sincerely hoped that it would help Milgi’s confidence.
It’s been one year and one day now, since Sport was adopted into our family. Many changes have been seen and most have been good (in respect of Sport anyway).
January 2008
Changes were definitely afoot in our household since the arrival of Meg, and we were to experience first hand the changes in behaviour that can happen when a Mr Greyhound gets overwhelmed with the scent of a Mrs Greyhound.
Having read several times already Marie’s blogs about Charlie, I would just like to add a few words of my own.

Some days are tougher than others, I guess we all know that.
]moreOn second of February I wrote an emotional entry about the departure of Charlie, our much loved “oldie” who had managed in just 4 weeks to wheedle his way into the hearts of just about every volunteer at the kennels and had caused more than just me to shed tears at his departure.

I’ve said in my diary entries before that Dottie’s racing name; Official Risk, is so appropriate. It appears she’s still living up to it and running true to form: Anything that can go wrong invariably does where Dottie is concerned.

Well everyone Sport has progressed very well during the past 10 days.
This evening was a major milestone for him, so much so that it triggered me to dash to the computer and write an update on his progress.
It’s been one year and one day now, since Sport was adopted into our family. Many changes have been seen and most have been good (in respect of Sport anyway).

Hello everyone, I am stunned. We have managed a whole 2 weeks without disaster striking one of the dogs! (Read on - no disasters, but there were some interesting moments.)

In September 2003, my family and I visited the kennels where Billy was housed. We went, with a view to finding out more about greyhounds, to help us decide if they were the right breed for us.

Billy unfortunately has a toe injury and a permanent limp. Billy’s lameness varies considerably it depends on what he’s doing and who is watching.

I am an active home checker for various greyhound homing groups. Depending on the domestic situation of the people I’m going to home check, I choose from either Billy, Dottie or Jazzy as to which dog I take with me.

Since my last entry there have been all sorts of canine happenings going on. Sport has made many steps forward and a few back too.

Well, we’ve certainly had better times at Christmas. To be honest it would be hard for things to have been much worse.

Further to my reference to Sport’s somewhat minging teeth in the entry called Show Time 2007 here is the update on Sport’s dental problems.

Thursday 13th April, started out like any other average school holiday Thursday. Billy, Dottie, Jazz, this weeks choice of homeless hound (Kylie), my son Robbie and I met Mandy, her daughters, Cassie (a greyhound) and Bullseye (a lurcher) for our regular morning walk.

Last Saturday morning myself along with Billy, Jazzy, Dottie met our friend and her 2 greyhounds at our local nature reserve. We thought we would enjoy a nice relaxing walk and have a good “natter". It was not to be……

Poor old Dottie, she just doesn’t learn. Once again she’s shown her dopey side.

Well it’s been 9 days now since Dottie had that bad fall and was (temporarily) paralysed. Dottie is doing well, she still has a way to go though.
]moreBack in October 2004 we adopted Dottie (then called Domino). Dottie is the third greyhound (and for the time being, the last greyhound) to join our family. We have managed to adopt three of them in the space of 13 months.
