Hi Everyone, it’s me again, Izzy. Mum says that today I have been in my new home for six months, so it’s time to celebrate my forever home.
Follow up:
I was laying in my basket this morning, knowing, that today we would be going out in the car to the country park. I love going in the car and get all excited, too much sometimes so mum puts me in before they are ready otherwise I just keep running up and down!
Anyway, I have reached the conclusion that living this new life really suits me and that you are never to old to learn new things.
I have learned how to climb stairs! (Gallop up, plod down usually does the trick.) I’ve learned how to not walk into glass doors! What are they about, you can’t even see them. Mum put pictures on them when I first came home, but now I’ve learned they are there.
I’ve learned that cats can be quite nice really, I still can’t see any point in them, but I guess they’re ok.
I have learned how wait and to lift my paws one after the other, for them to be wiped when it’s wet and muddy outside. That’s got something to do with cream carpets apparently!
I have learned that I can run just for pleasure.
Mum and Dad are going on holiday soon, I don’t know what that’s about, but mum says she needs to loose weight so we go running together (well, she calls it running, but it’s more like a trot to me) and she enjoys it. We go to the local park and we “run” from one end of the football pitch to the other. Sometimes I do a few extra laps cos she’s a bit slow and it’s more fun that way.
But best of all I have learned how to make beds. Now, I have two beds of my own, which are very nice and comfortable but now, as I have been such a good girl I am allowed anywhere I like in the house, so the first time, when they went to work I thought I would go upstairs and explore a bit.
They sleep in a really big bed so I thought I’ll have a go on that. Ooohhh how nice is that, I could spread right out, there are lots of fluffy toys and little pillows to snuggle into, I now pass many hours snoozing away on their bed!
Last Saturday mum had been buzzing around upstairs with that vacuum thing, so I took myself off for a quiet snooze in the conservatory. After a while I realised that she had stopped making a noise and was standing in the kitchen at a big high table doing something with clothes. She was there for ages. I kept an eye on her, in case there was any chance we would be going out in the car soon, but she just kept getting the clothes and then after she had finished with them on the table she put them in a pile on the kitchen worktop. Weird!
Eventually she finished and put the big table away, then she went up and down the stairs carrying the piles of clothes. Oh this is boring I thought and promptly went back to sleep!
Next thing I know she’s coming down the stairs with the vacuum thing!! Oh No I thought, time to go upstairs for a nap! I crept upstairs and jumped on her bed. Oh joy, lucky me because on the bed was all those piles of clothes that smelled lovely. Just reminding me of the nice smell when mum changes the cover on my bed.
I set to work right away, digging and tossing the clothes into that lovely heap you get when you really, really need to get it just right! Next I settled down right in the middle of it. I was just dozing off when I heard the noise stop downstairs and then mum coming up the stairs. Well I was just so happy that I thought I would show mum how pleased I was to be in this lovely bed that I had made. I wagged my tail and made my eyes as big as I could, I perked my ears in that little waggly way that mum thinks is so cute (always gets me a “Good Girl") just as she came in the room.
Well what happened!!! She didn’t smile like she usually does when she sees me, she just looked sort of funny,
“Oh Izzy” she said “That’s mummy’s ironing, what have you done?”
I wagged my tail a bit harder, and waggled my ears a bit more, but she still didn’t smile."You are a naughty girl” she said “Get down now!” What could I do, I had just made the best bed in the whole world and now I was a naughty girl. How can that be right?
So from that experience I have learned that although Mum loves me to bits, when it comes to her ironing she has a serious sense of humor failure. Better not make a bed out of her freshly ironed clothes again then because I don’t want her to look at me without smiling! I have learned that I definitely don’t like that.
Well enough daydreaming! it’s time to go out, so until next time, take care everyone.
Bye for now, Love from Izzy.
