The Great British Greyhound Walk is an annual event that takes place this year on Sunday 21st June. We have organised a walk at Farnham Park, Surrey (with the permission of Waverley Borough Council). Any queries about the Farnham Park walk should be addressed to Anne at [email protected] and not to Greyhound Lifeline direct. Alternatively call the contact number on the walk page. We hope you will come along and join us.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you and your hounds next Sunday!

Open Day

Last weekend we held our annual Open Day, we had fabulous weather and lots of old friends four and two legged came to join us.  It was so lovely to see so many past kennel residents who came back for our big day.  We are very grateful for everybody that came along and donated so generously.  We made a fantastic total of £2,638.70, so a big thank you to everyone who made the day such a success.  This total will make a significant difference to the well being of the greyhounds in our care.

Open Day 2015

A big thank you also goes out to everybody who worked so hard to ensure this day was so successful.  Thank you to those that helped on Saturday putting up gazebos and preparing stalls and Sunday afternoon clearing away.  Many hours have been spent baking, wrapping and sorting in preparation for this big day.  We have such a wonderful team, who give up a lot of time to support the greyhounds in our care.

Updates from the kennels:

We have a few dogs who have passed their small dog test and with further socialisation around smaller breeds they will learn to accept them as friends.  These dogs are Vinny, Hannah, Kiri, Angus, Artie, Polly and Cracker.  Please see their pages in our ‘Greyhounds Needing Homes Gallery’ for videos of these successful sessions.

New in:

We have a selection of canvas bags that are available to buy from our kennels during our opening hours.  They come in two different styles – long or short handles.  The greyhounds on the bags are all dog that have been homed by us.  Little Reggie features on some of them.  Bags are priced at £6 each, they will also be available to buy at our Open Day.

Available Greyhounds:

Please take a look at all the lovely greyhounds, most have updated descriptions, in our greyhounds for adoption gallery.  We have some very friendly, loving greyhounds who have waited far too long for their forever homes.  Could you give one of our hounds their dream home? Please take a look at our longer stay residents, these greyhounds have been with us longer than they should have been.  Please help us to find them their forever homes.   These greyhounds are – Willie and Hammy. Have a look at their descriptions, could one of them be the dog for you?

Our latest arrivals:

Jed, Lyric, Suzi and Tommy

Tommy is nearly two years old!  He is a fun loving boy with bags of energy.  We would love for him to find his very own home before his second birthday which is in July!

Dogs in Foster Care:

Reggie, Willie & Suzi are in foster care. If one of our foster dogs interests you as a potential new family member then you simply need to contact us and we’ll arrange a mutually convenient date and time for you to meet him/her.

A plea for your help:

Nationwide the greyhound boys most especially, need your help to publicise their plight and hopefully raise their chances of an adoption. We desperately need to free up a boy space by homing an existing male resident. When a boy resident finds a home we can welcome another into his vacant space to keep the waiting list of very patient males moving on down.

Please folks, if you can help to spread the word that boy greyhounds are just as great as girls are at being pets then we have some hope of moving a little further down our waiting list of boys needing our help. Currently at our kennels we estimate a boy will be waiting a horrendous time of around 6 months. This is not acceptable to us and it is a very worrying situation, but we can, like other kennels only let more come in when one goes out to start their new life. Please have a read of ‘choosing a girl or a boy’ page if you are considering adopting a greyhound.

Bedding:

We would appreciate any spare blankets or duvets that you may have as our stocks in these are getting low.  Thank you in advance.

Stock Appeal:

The weather is getting warmer and we are now out and about at local car boots. We need your help! We are in need of stock suitable to sell at car boot fairs or at local fairs/events. The things we need the most are DVD’s, CD’s, children’s toys – including toy cars, jigsaws (adults and children’s), board games, console games and any boxed/unwrapped presents.

Used Postage Stamp and Ink Cartridge Appeal:

Many of you may already know that the Retired Greyhound Trust collect used postage stamps to raise funds for the greyhounds in their care. For some of you collecting the occasional stamp here and there and finally getting around to posting a collection off may be a bit of a nuisance. We also collect old mobile phones.

Fundraise for us using eBay:

You can sell items on ebay and choose to donate between 10% and 100% of your sale price to Greyhound Lifeline. If you are an ebay member you could also simply donate by using your Paypal account. For ebay members only please visit their Sell for Charity page and enter “Greyhound Lifeline” in the Charity name area. If you are a UK tax payer please also tick the Gift Aid box. Please read ebay’s terms and conditions carefully as we cannot be held responsible for any problems you may encounter. Could you sell your unwanted items and help us to buy food, provide veterinary care and generally look after the greyhounds in our care at the same time
