Merry Christmas Everyone!

We would like to wish all our volunteers, supporters and greyhounds (past and present) a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year!

We would also like to apologise for having been off line for some time. There was some planned maintenance that needed attention and sometimes things just don’t always go to plan. We are however now back and the web site should now function better than it did before both for us and for you, the user too.

With grateful thanks to wonderful Kev, from Multilayer Design for all his hard work in getting all our web site issues and problems resolved. Kev, like the rest of us, does it all voluntarily amid a multitude of other commitments and we are very grateful for his expertise. We may have been offline, but this doesn’t mean nothing was happening behind the scenes.

As it’s been around a month since our last update we’ll keep the news brief, but to the point or we’ll risk boring you all to sleep!

Christmas and New Year Homing Dates:

Homing of greyhound will re-start from January 1st 2014

Viewings for greyhounds and potentially reservations will still be ongoing throughout the whole holiday period.

New arrivals:

Lance, Nelson, Nimrod, Eliza and Banksy are our most recent arrivals. Their details along with photographs are now on site along with information about all our other available dogs. To find available dogs please visit our Greyhounds For Adoption Gallery.

Eliza black female

New girl Eliza is an interesting combination of timidness combined with a keen chase instinct. She’d be best with a companion canine and an experienced owner.

Homed Greyhounds:

Lila, Curly, Sonny and Sparky have all found adoptive homes during December.

Greyhounds in foster care:

Bobby (3 legs), Niki and Jet are in foster care along with new lad Banksy, although Banksy is in short term foster for post-operative care and he will return to kennels once our vet is happy he is past the point of complications occurring. If one of our foster dogs interests you as a potential new family member then you simply need to call us and we’ll arrange a mutually convenient date and time for you to meet him/her.

Bobby (3 legs) still needs a home of his own.

Foster Home Appeal:

We need more foster homes. Ideally we are looking for foster homes within easy traveling distance of Fleet, Wokingham, Alton or Southampton as we have trusted volunteer team members in those areas who would be able to assist with viewings if a trip to the kennels was not possible.

Jet in his foster home

Jet is in foster care and now the poor boy has the dubious title of being our current longest stay greyhound. The boy is fun and full of character would you consider giving him a permanent adoptive? home

We prefer foster carers who have some experience of dog ownership and training. Homes without cats and young children are especially sought because homes with young children and/or cats or inexperience dog handlers severely restrict our options of the greyhounds we could place with you.

Niki is in foster care and she’s still looking for her adoptive home.

If greyhound fostering is of interest to you, then please visit our fostering information page to see if it could be the route for you.

Lungworm can kill!

Please be aware of Lungworm, it’s a killer that many of you won’t necessarily have heard of. It is spreading fast in the UK and many dogs have already died from it. Don’t panic however as Lungworm is very easy to prevent and equally if diagnosed early it can be treated very successfully too. Late diagnosis of Lungworm does not always have a happy ending however.

The following link will take you to a Lungworm Information site. For preventative treatment of lungworm you will need to contact your vet. Treatment/prevention of  Lungworm is by prescription medication only.
