Addendum News from Saturday 17th December
Cleo managed to get herself reserved today by her existing foster family. They will formalise the adoption in the New Year. Welcome to the ever growing Club FF (failed fosterers) Nigel and Cathy!
A huge thank you to Lee from Southampton Butchers, Terminus Terrace, Southampton for his generous donation of frozen pet mince. It’ll keep our greyhounds in hot dinners for months to come and it’s saved us a large amount of money too.
Thank you to Lucy for taking the excess meat home to keep in her freezer for us (our freezer was way too small for all the meat) and to Mo who drove from Southampton to Fleet with the meat and lots of other goodies for the dogs that she has collected too.

We would like to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Here’s hoping you all enjoy the forthcoming seasonal festivities, but for your dog’s sake please remember the danger to animals from chocolate, raisins, some plants (including poinsettia plants), alcohol, xylitol (artificial sweetener), anti-freeze etc. This Daily Mail report published last year was brought to our attention. It highlights more than just the sore pads dogs get from walking on gritted surfaces!

Greyhound Lifeline Newsletter:
We apologise that this year we won’t be releasing a newsletter or sending out Christmas cards to adopters. As much as we like to keep you all in touch and of course wish you a merry Christmas too we cannot justify the cost of doing so. Cards, postage and printing costs add up to a considerable sum that we feel would be better spent on feeding, housing and giving veterinary attention to the greyhounds in our care.
We hope to have regular newsletter available electronically in the new year. If you’d like to receive our newsletter then please join our mailing list. Please be assured that your email address will not be passed to any third parties and you can of course opt to un-subscribe at any time.
Special appeal for Jack:
Jack is almost 8 years old now and he’s lived all of those years in kennels. We would really like to see Jack in a foster or adoptive home before too long. He is an RGT sponsor dog yes, but that does not mean he’s not available for homing.
Jack is a special needs lad and he must be an only dog in a home without children. If you have a child free home, please consider taking Jack on or at least talk to us about him. There has to be a loving home for him somewhere surely? If long term fostering, rather than adoption is the best way forward to get him in a home then we’ll consider it happily. Festive Season Greyhound Homing
There will be no further homing of greyhounds until January 1st 2012. We may however, at our discretion and with the best interest of the greyhound foremost in our mind allow some adoptions to continue. Only homes without children where a quiet festive season is planned would potentially be able to take a greyhound home before January.
Viewings, homing enquiries and home checks will of course continue as normal and reservation of greyhounds are very welcome.
Christmas Appeal for Lifeline’s Greyhounds
We would love to have a full treat bin and a selection for toys for all our greyhounds this Christmas. If you can add a bag of dog treats to your weekly shop, find some unwanted soft toys, balls or even actual dog toys at home then Greyhound Lifeline would love to receive them.
Let’s make this Christmas special extra for the greyhounds and hopefully the food and fun will last well into 2012. Please make your donations in person at the kennels between 11am and 1pm daily.

You can now sell items on ebay and choose to donate between 10% and 100% of your sale price to Greyhound Lifeline. If you are an ebay member you could also simply donate by using your Paypal account.
