Spook is reserved – 30.10.24.
Spook is in foster care in Southampton, Hampshire, she arrived in our care on the 15th of October 2024 and she was born on the 4th of August 2020.
This sweet girl is learning the rules of the house and is nearly housetrained!
Spook can be easily spooked and likes a small area she can hide in, until she feels brave enough to come out and try again. She loves her bed and prefers a big fluffy bed that she can sink into, this is her favourite kind of bed! During the day Spook spends most of the day in the house, getting used to home living and is around several other greyhounds. She is quiet within the home and is learning about home living! Each morning she will greet you with a waggy tail, a lick on the hand and just be really happy to see you!
She is an affectionate lass, who enjoys being brushed and having snuggles with her close human friends, Spook is learning that brushing your teeth is a good thing! She can be a little wary of new things, so will need time to adjust to new activities, although this time is shortening.
Spook can be a little hand shy to unfamiliar people, this can make viewings really difficult for this little girl as she will not approach anyone new. She will take time to get to know a new person. Any new people visiting the home, she will stay back and observe from a distance, allowing the other dogs to greet them first, if new people ignore her she is more than likely to follow you around!
She likes to absorb the environment before greeting others but when she does she has a smiley face and a waggy tail (if you are lucky). Spook likes her food so some nice smelly treats will win her over! This lass can get a little worried about loud noises and will look for her human for confidence. Spook is a very sweet, gentle, natured girl.
She has made some good human friends that she sees daily and is beginning to seek out other humans now for affection.
Spook could be an only dog if she had lots of human company but equally would do well with another dog of any size to boost her confidence.
She needs a home where there are no children as she is currently wary and she just doesn’t know how to behave around them. She has started to play with soft toys but currently likes to do this when you are not watching her! I’m sure soon she will play with toys with her human friends too. Spook loves play bowing with the other dogs and running around in the garden with them.
Spook travels well within the car and enjoys exploring, quiet places. She is getting used to walking in parks, where she will meet other people. She can walk nicely on a lead and enjoys going out for her walks with her favourite people and dogs!
This lass has shown she can be sociable with other breeds, she has met a range of other breeds out on her walks and has shown how polite she can be around them.
Spook loves being outside in the garden, exploring and using her senses. She has come a long way, in such a small amount of time. Spook would make a lovely addition to a quiet home. She really does just want to please her new owner.
Please don’t let her shyness put you off this sweet little girl. She has so much that still needs unlocking within her but what a special little girl she has been with us.
At any viewing Spook will need time to get to know you, please be patient with her, as we will need to go at her pace.
