Devon has been homed – 13.8.25.
Devon is in foster care in Southampton, Hampshire, she arrived in our care on the 3rd of April 2025 and she was born on the 1st of December 2018.
This lovely, stocky, girl enjoys being around humans, she can at times be your shadow so watch where you are standing, with this girl around!
She is housetrained and will ask to go out by coming to find you and giving you a little cry, what a clever girl! Like all new additions to any family, she will need to develop her bond with you and may not tell you to begin with that she needs the toilet. We are sure she will learn to trust her new owner very quickly and then give them the signals at the right time! She is crate trained and you will often find her in one having a snooze or just enjoying some quiet time away from the action.
Devon is sharing her foster home with other greyhounds, she gets on well with them all and is not dominant towards any of them.
This lass loves her toys and will demand LOTS of them in her new home. She just adores playing with them, on her own or with her human friends. Devon is quite happy snuggling up to her human friend for more cuddles and ‘me’ time.
She is a happy little girl that doesn’t always show it but when you know Devon very well, you know that she is content.
Devon enjoys going for a walk, she is keen to investigate all that she finds with a big waggy tail and those sticky up ears! She walks very nicely on a lead but can get excited if other dogs are running around.
This girl is a real water baby; sea, river, lake, pond she will be in it! She just loves to paddle cooling herself off and having fun at the same time. Devon is very much a beach girl!
On her daily adventures she is getting familiar with a variety of sounds – cars, trucks, people, children and nothing seems to faze her. Devon has seen many dogs from a far and quite close, most she would love to have a run around with.
She listens well to her handler whilst out and about. Devon has met a range of dogs, she is currently still trying to work out what they are, we are confident with time that she will learn that they can all be friends too. This girl now needs to meet other breeds of dog, in a calm, controlled way to carry on this training/socialisation. Devon can be a little wary of dogs that are too much ‘in her face’ or smaller dogs, she will show this with a quick growl but she is doing this less, since she has come into our care. She now needs to develop her confidence around all dogs in a safe, secure environment with her human friends around her to help her.
She is a good eater, enjoys her treats and bones too! Devon is very good at mealtimes and will wait for her turn and for you to place her bowl down before she tucks in. She really is a wonderful girl.
Devon could live very happily with children over the age of 10 years who are used to being around larger dogs. She loves cuddles and would expect any little friends to give them to her too! Devon does have some sleep startleness which means when she is asleep on her bed she needs to be left alone or spoken to before being approached.
She would be suitable to live as an only pet or as a companion to another greyhound.
What better thing to enjoy on a walk than to find those little squirrels! Devon enjoys watching them in the trees and may try to chase them if they are running around the trees! Hold on tight! Recently on a little holiday to Norfolk she got to see loads of RABBITS, these too caught her attention!
Devon prefers to toilet in the garden rather than on local walks, however she will go on walks that are further afield or if you are out for the day. With time and confidence Devon will start to toilet on her normal walks too.
This girl travels well and gets in the vehicle with ease. Devon will lay down in the vehicle and waits patiently for the end destination before enjoying the new walk with her human friends.
Devon is a loving girl, who just wants to find her own sofa, she just loves people. This sweet six year old, has really been through it the last few months and would love to feel settled and loved in her new home.
Please give our adoption line a call to find out more about her.
No cats please.
