Gru Has Been Homed

Gru has been homed – 1.2.26.

Gru is in foster care in Southampton, Hampshire, he arrived in our care on the 4th of January 2026 and he was born on the 23rd of May 2023.

This lad is super cute and friendly, who loves to have cuddles.

He is a larger lad and a bit of a ‘goof’ but we all LOVE him and his sweet character!

Gru enjoys going out for walks, he will trot alongside you and enjoys all that he sees.  He would prefer if it wasn’t raining and isn’t that keen on walking through puddles, for a boy of his size it can be quite funny to see him darting around or over a puddle than get his toes wet!

He will greet new people with a waggy tail, a lovely smile and is polite with his manners!  Gru LOVES his food, sometimes a little too much but will take treats gently from your hand, what a lovely boy he is!  This lad never thinks of his waist line and doesn’t have an off switch when it comes to food, he may need a little help from his new owner on this one!

Gru especially enjoys going out for car journeys, he needs a little help from his human friends as to how to get his back feet into the car but with more time we are sure he can learn this for himself!  Once inside he soon settles down and is very eager the other end to get out and start his new adventure!

He has met many other medium size and bigger breeds of dog, he shows them his politeness with his manners and would quite like to play with them, if correct introductions were carried out.  Gru needs more time to adjust to smaller breeds, he just can’t work out if they are the same as him and finds them fascinating to watch!  His gorgeous smile never ends and he will greet his doggie friends exactly the same as his human ones – waggy tail, huge smile and polite manners!  Gru can get excited if he sees other dogs playing and having fun, he really just wants to go and play but forgets that he is on the lead!  This can lead to him being a little strong on the lead, however walking on a Canny will take the strength out and give you a pleasurable walk with your new canine friend!

Gru can be quite comical on a walk and will either have his head on the ground, rolling around with his bottom in the air or trying to walk between your legs.  He certainly doesn’t hold many brains in the head of his but we all LOVE him for the boy he is!

This lad LOVES to play!  He will play with toys, his friends (human), Gru just likes to live life to the full and is always a happy boy!  He would love a huge toy box just for himself, full of lots of different toys that he can play with, including plenty of different balls.

Throw a ball for our large boy and he will continue playing with it, making his own games up, normally resulting in all his toys scattered around and under his beds, it can be quite funny to watch.

Gru would love to be the only dog where he doesn’t have to share all the attention, toys or treats.  Gru wants it all for himself, he has the character to make up for several dogs so you won’t be missing out by having him!  He would share a home with a laid back female who wouldn’t pinch his toys!

This lad could live with children over the age of 12 years, who know how to treat and respect a pet.  Gru could be left for a few hours but no more than 3-4hrs due to being a younger greyhound.

All our volunteers just love our gorgeous Gru, he is really soppy and just wants to be with his human friends enjoying life to the full!

At the end of the day you will find Gru spread out on his bed, snoozing the night away, dreaming of all his adventures and getting ready for the next day.  He is such a sweetie, could he be the dog for you?
