Nessie Has Been Homed

Nessie has been homed – 19.4.26.

Nessie is in foster care in Southampton, Hampshire, she arrived in our care on the 2nd of March 2026 and she was born on the 15th of September 2021.

This lass has a thick, black, teddy bear coat, little Nessie is starting to loose her kennel coat and soon she will have a silky, shiny black coat instead!

Nessie can get really excited when she greets people, she will show this with a big waggy tail and comes running at you with a massive grin!  She is a funny girl.  Nessie soon settles down and become this affectionate, loveable girl that she is!

This girl loves to play with you and soft toys, she just loves running around and having fun, what more could you ask for!

Nessie is nearly housetrained and used to everyday noises in and around the home.  She shows no fear of washing machine, TV, dishwasher, hoover or other household noises.

Our gorgeous girl lives alongside 7 other greyhounds both girls and boys, she gets on well with them, particularly the boys.  Nessie has shown us no negative behaviour around other breeds of dog, she is intrigued about what they are – big and small breeds.  She will watch them as they go by and will listen to her handler if she is asked to wait on walks.  Nessie needs to continue her training around other breeds of dog, seeing them from afar and up close.

This girl does LOVE her food and is also learning all about treats.  Nessie is certainly enjoying all these new tastes!

She enjoys her car rides, knowing she is going to have a nice walk somewhere.  Nessie needs a little persuasion to get into the car for her outing and can need a little bit of help, we are working on this skill with her.

Nessie enjoys going out for her walks, she can walk nicely on a lead and will trot along beside you.  She will prick her ears up when watching other dogs play, she can get excited if they are running around but only because she wants to join in!  Nessie is currently walked on a Canny Lead whilst she gets used to walking in different places.  She shows no fear when walking along pavements, parks, forests, around cars or bikes.

This gorgeous girl is a water baby, she loves going in streams and pools.  Nessie will entertain you with her sweet character.  She loves collecting toys from a pool and bringing them back out again, perfect for those hot sunny days!

After all the excitement of being out and about, she will settle down next to you for some quiet time and a stroke from her favourite people, she may even give you a roach!  Watch out for your sofa – Nessie loves one!  You may find one Nessie in your place if you leave your seat!

Nessie could be left for a few hours at a time but we would prefer this to be kept to no more than 4 hours due to her age and character.  She could live with a male greyhound or other large breed if proper introductions have taken place or she could be an only dog.

Our sweet girl could live with a family who have teenagers, Nessie can be a bit boisterous in her mannerism and may knock a younger child over by accident.  We look at each homing individually and would be willing to discuss this further with any interested family.

Come and meet Nessie, you really won’t be disappointed, she really is a special, happy girl.
