Niki Has Been Homed

Niki has been homed.

She is a tall, confident and friendly, spayed, fawn female who was born in March 2007.

Niki is strong on a normal greyhound collar and lead, but when wearing a Canny Collar she walks along very nicely unless she sees a cat etc where she does still need a “bit of muscle” to control her.

Niki has met other breeds of dog and given us no cause for concern around those of large size. She does still need further all breed socialisation practice before being consistently reliable around unfamiliar breeds especially smaller ones. She’ll need a no nonsense sort of owner who won’t fall for the “doe eyed” look that Niki is very good at giving!

This girl has oodles of character and love to give, but it’s twinned with a mischievious side that’ll need correcting from time to time.

Niki has been diagnosed with a heart murmer (grade 3). She is not on any medication for this and she leads a perfectly normal life.

Niki has had some dental problems and she is now the proud owner of just 2 shiny and healthy teeth. The lower canines are all she has left. She does not however require any specialist feeding as she is very able to eat normal dog food and most treats. She also still enjoys a bone and manages one of those surprising well (if messily).

No cats or small fluffies please.

Foster report on Niki:

Niki is a lively member of the household, a face washer and finger nibbler extraordinaire, she has tons of love to give and she just can’t help herself from loving everybody.

Basically she’s a bit of a tank, not gentle in any way! She’s better described as exuberantly loving and playful. She loves toys, she likes to play chase and play bow sort of games with other (male) dogs, but she would need an equally big companion animal for this as she’s a rough and tumble sort of tomboy, rather than the delicate lady that she looks.

Niki has a large appetite and she’s refreshingly simple to feed since she’s not a fussy eater. She’s respectful of other dogs at feeding time and she doesn’t try to push them off their bowls which is nice to see. She just waits for them to leave then does all my washing up by tongue!

If a fun filled day is your sort of thing and you are strong on your feet and in the shoulders then Niki could well be for you.

Niki has excellent table manners at human mealtimes, no begging from this girl, she knows the rules although she does appreciate a clumsy cook who spills things on the floor.Niki has been impeccably clean in the home, I’ve not needed to house train her at all, she’s just done it correctly naturally. She can also be left for reasonable periods without any noise or other problems. She has been crate trained and is very happy to put herself away when she’s tired, but she’s been fine with the crate door open when I’ve gone out too.

She could share her life with a large breed male dog or she’d be happy to have you all to herself as an only dog.

Niki would love an adult only home or one with robust teenagers. No young children, or people that are not steady on their feet please.

Physically strong with an “in charge” attitude are the required attributes for the person(s) who adopt Niki.
