September Kennel Updates

Jet, Rosie, Moose and Ronnie have been homed. Wonderful news for all four. Strangely all were foster dogs and all four have not physically moved home – the foster carers simply formalised arrangements and the dogs concerned have been adopted.

The slight hiccup with this wonderful news however is that we are now rather short of foster homes and it is not obligatory to adopt if you foster even if the above may lead you believe that it is! If any of you are interested in becoming a foster mum or dad to one of our greyhounds then please take a look at our Fostering Information page. Please contact us if you feel that you could help with fostering at all.

Stock Appeal:

Fancy having a pre Christmas clear out to make some room? We are in need of stock suitable to sell at car boot fairs or at local fairs/events.

The things we need the most are DVD’s, children’s toys, board games and console games.

Merchandise:

Our merchandise pages have been updated and we have several new items that may be of interest. Please note that we do not do a mail order service, all items (except jewellery and tassels) are for collection in person from our kennels only.

Jewellery and tassels for both dogs and handbags made by Aqua are available on a mail order basis since these items are made to order and not stocked at our kennels. With Christmas fast approaching perhaps a nice pair of hand made earrings for a wife, girlfriend, daughter or mother would be a great gift idea or you could treat your hound to a hand made collar tassel or two? Early ordering for the festive season would be much appreciated so please order jewellery early to avoid disappointment.

A selection of hand made earrings available via mail order.

Kennel Management Change:

During August we had a change of line up in the management. After several years of being co-manager with Marie, our Volunteer Jane has had to step down due to the time pressures of her paid work. We are however pleased to advise that Lucy has since been offered the co-manager vacancy and she has accepted the position.

Thank you Jane for all your hard work and support as co-manager. We are very pleased to say though that Jane is not leaving us, she remains on the team and continues with her regular kennel shift.

Welcome Lucy to the “pleasures” of increased responsibility. We are sure Lucy will be a real asset and play an active part in the smooth running of the kennels. Lucy has always been hard working and totally dedicated so we expect nothing to change for her except an increased workload which she has happily taken on.

When we refer to management at Greyhound Lifeline, please note that we are fully staffed and managed by unpaid volunteers whose love of the dogs and dedication shines through in whatever role is taken on.

We are extremely fortunate that the team of volunteers that we have are always committed and professional and we’d like to take the opportunity to thank each and every one of them for whatever role they fulfil.

Greyhounds in Foster Care:

Lily, Max, Jet, Reggie and Champ are in foster care. If one of our foster dogs interests you as a potential new family member then you simply need to call us and we’ll arrange a mutually convenient date and time for you to meet him/her.

Used Postage Stamp and Ink Cartridge Appeal:

Many of you may already know that the Retired Greyhound Trust collect used postage stamps to raise funds for the greyhounds in their care. For some of you collecting the occasional stamp here and there and finally getting around to posting a collection off may be a bit of a nuisance. We also collect old mobile phones.

Fundraise for us using eBay:

You can sell items on ebay and choose to donate between 10% and 100% of your sale price to Greyhound Lifeline. If you are an ebay member you could also simply donate by using your Paypal account. For ebay members only please visit their Sell for Charity page and enter “Greyhound Lifeline” in the Charity name area.

If you are a UK tax payer please also tick the Gift Aid box. Please read ebay’s terms and conditions carefully as we cannot be held responsible for any problems you may encounter. Could you sell your unwanted items and help us to buy food, provide veterinary care and generally look after the greyhounds in our care at the same time?
