Fiona's Greyhound Blog - Problems Resolving

I thought I would do a catch up about long line training and ‘naughty’ dogs. It is useless. I am not good with the long line, have never been able to time things just right and also have to cope with the fact that I am pushing my wheelie walker to keep me up. However none of those things are why it’s useless and I was fully prepared to try to make it work.

What is useless is that Aisha knows she is on a lead and no matter how much length I leave dragging on the ground and encouragement to ‘go play’ she just walks along next to me obediently while the line gets tangled with the walker and Monty and Hazel have a run! Each time I have started the walk with her on it I have given up, fairly quickly I admit, because otherwise she doesn’t really benefit from the walk and being the youngest she needs to run around.

Fortunately Monty and Aisha temporarily losing me the other day has meant they both tend to stay within sight and sound of me and generally zolpidemsleep.com come when they are called which I do several times throughout the walk, Monty is good at playing deaf when we are out and is generally on a go slow of ‘I’ll get to you when I feel like’ it but he does come so I haven’t tried the long line on him but I might, occasionally he is longer sniffing a blade of grass than I am happy about.

The most important thing is that I have learnt if I go round the park in different directions and covering different areas Aisha appears not to get bored and investigates so does not bully Monty, the last few walks we’ve had have been very pleasant and stress free – especially on my part and we all know that if the dogs pick up the owners stress they will milk it for all it’s worth! Hopefully before Long I will be able to drive again and can then take them all over the place, I’m less than half an hour from Sherwood Forest for a start.
