Cloud Has Been Homed

Cloud has been homed.

She is an average sized, friendly and lively, black, spayed bitch who was born in May 2008.

Cloud walks nicely on a lead, unless her chase instinct is triggered, when she is surprisingly strong and acrobatic! She travels well and has proved sociable with all the other greyhounds she has met.

Although Cloud has passed her cat test (with caution and vigilance in the early days of adoption we feel that Cloud could learn to live safely with cats) she still requires considerably more work around small to medium sized breeds of dog. She was accepting of larger ones immediately. It sounds like we have got her description confused we know – OK cats, but not dogs, but this isn’t the first time we’ve had greyhounds with the same reaction as Cloud and the description shown is how we have seen her.

We’ll be working on Cloud’s all breed social skills over the coming weeks and hope to be in a position to improve her description before too long.

Cloud loves toys, she plays nicely without jumping at you and waits she for things to be thrown. She’s especially fond of a game of football and is happy to give you the toy back afterwards. In this respect she’d be fine with a family who have younger children, provided they the family have sufficient time to work on her other breed social skills as well.

Following is a report by the Grant family who have taken Cloud for a day out to experience life beyond the kennel walls:

Cloud was calm and travelled very well in the car lying down for most of the journey, she is able to wait to be asked to get out of the car.

When walking around in a busy environment such as a town centre Cloud generally walked along nicely beside us with a slack beside you. We did not however encounter anything to trigger her chase instinct, so we are unable to comment on that aspect.

Cloud was very well mannered when meeting people, both adults and children and absolutely adores any attention afforded to her. In our home Cloud settled quickly, you wouldn’t know you had her in the house. Cloud was not worried by household items such as the washing machine however she was fascinated by the ringing telephone.

Cloud was fine on all our floor surfaces, but didn’t want to try the stairs. She was clean in the house, toileting appropriately in the garden.

Cloud greyhound on a day out

A very inquisitive dog who wants to know what is going on and she loves to explore her environment. Not perfect however as she’s a bit of a food thief and will need some training from her new owner in that respect. All in all a fun and playful girl who will prove very loving and amusing to her new family.
