Dusty Has Been Homed

Dusty has been homed – 6.12.20.

Dusty is in foster care near Fleet, Hampshire, she arrived with us on the 8th October 2020 and she was born on 1st March 2013.

She is an inquisitive, small, playful blue girl who would love a friend to play with.  She has learnt that she has so much to enjoy, that she has discovered whilst living in a home environment.

Dusty has spent her entire life in kennels, before coming to Greyhound Lifeline.  She had never seen outside of her kennel, been for a walk, seen cars, in a house, heard all the every day sounds that we all take for granted.  Dusty is learning fast and is starting to enjoy life outside of the kennel walls.  She is sharing her foster home with seven other greyhounds, one of which is her kennel mate that she spent her time with, inside of the racing kennels.

She is learning to play with people and with her greyhound friends, Dusty is crate trained and due to her background prefers to eat her meals inside of her crate, where she feels secure, she is however starting to eat her meals with the other dogs in the house.  Dusty is starting to enjoy her meals and is rather liking her puppy food, which she is on to help fatten her up a bit.  She is a kitchen surfer and likes to see what interesting things you keep on the sides, beware she will take food if she can reach it, she is also partial to fish food!

Dusty doesn’t climb the stairs, maybe that’s an adventure to do in the future, once she has got used to home living!  She is quiet at night and sleeps well.  This little lady enjoys snuggling up to a greyhound friend for sleepy times and is starting to move away from her old kennel mate and enjoy the company of one of the other greyhounds in the house.

She is nearly housetrained and the foster home she lives in she gets to see lots of other people.  Dusty is very nosy and goes to see each visitor with a waggy tail and likes the fuss and attention that she is given.

Dusty walks nicely on a lead, she travels well, most of the time she will jump in by herself but sometimes it is all too much and she needs a helping hand!  Good job she is light enough but as her strength grows each day the times she needs helping in and out of the car is becoming fewer.

She has given us no cause for concern around any other breed of dog or children, that we have met on our walks or our trips to the vets!  This little girl needs to be homed with another greyhound/sighthound as company, she has spent so much time sharing a kennel, whilst racing that she does look for another dog to help her learn and for reassurance whilst learning about life.  Dusty has just started to play with toys, enjoys a good game of chase me, play bowing and catch the thrown toy!

Dusty is a delight to have in foster and she is going to make someone very happy with all the love that she has to give.  She has had quite a large dental but this hasn’t stopped her eating, in fact since this operation she has become a lot more sociable, happy and is bouncing around like a spring chicken!  Dusty will need to be spayed once she is over her first operation and will then need to start her vaccinations of again as she is completely out of date.  This little one will have had her full MOT before she has left Greyhound Lifeline and ready to start her own special home.

Is there a family out there who can give this smashing lass a home and spoil her on all those home comforts that she has missed out on, from an earlier age?

Dusty really is a sweetie, don’t miss out on her, call our adoption line on 07769348310 to find out more about her.
