Jet has been homed.
He is an average sized, confident, friendly, black, castrated male who was born in July 2009.
Jet is a wonderful boy, but sadly he is currently our longest stay dog. In order to help Jet find the home that we know is out there for him we asked him to compose his own write up in an appeal to nudge his family toward coming to find him. Jet writes:
Jet has met other breeds of dog and given us no cause for concern around them. He’d be suitable as an only pet or as a companion to another canine of medium size and above.
Jet is a toy boy – sorry, couldn’t resist that pun! He loves to play with toys, he enjoys playing football, cuddly and squeaky toys too. He’s lively and boisterous in his play however and he can sometimes be a little to keen to get the toy back. Guard you fingers when playing with Jet. He’s definitely after the toy, but he has been known to miss! He’d suit an adult home or one with teenagers who would like a rough and tumble sort of playmate. Jet simply isn’t the calm and gentle type of greyhound. He’s a fun loving hooligan who is very capable of keeping you amused with his antics.
Foster report on Jet:
Jet has come on leaps and bounds since being in foster care, the first thing being he now hair on his previously bald bottom!
At the moment Jet is living with a lurcher (bitch) & Greyhound (bitch) and he is absolutely brilliant in the house with these 2 girls. On occasion we also have other dogs in for visits & holiday boarding and again Jet gets on really well with them too.
Meal times are fine, he has now learned that once his food is in front of him he has to wait until being told OK. Once he has finished his food then the garden is the first place he has to go. Jet eats in the kitchen at the same time as the girls. Albeit after the visit to the garden it is often a mad dash to the kitchen to see if any thing has been left!
As for being left for a reasonable amount of time, Jet stays in the kitchen with his bed and toys quite happily. He only needs telling once to go in his bed as I am leaving. This boy does love company, so there is only a stair gate separating him from the girls.
Referred to as a ‘’Toy boy’’ above and it is so true! I have never known a dog who love his toys so much. Whenever I come in I find that whatever toys he has had in his bed that day get carried into the lounge or out into the garden. He is always carrying a toy around with him, the first day he joined us he was muzzled, but he still managed to walk in and pick up a toy even through the muzzle!
Jet is now learning the word “leave” and on command he will drop the toy/football at my feet and we continue with the game. He also allows me to take items/toys from his mouth without any problems.
Walking: Jet is strong on the lead, but I am progressing with the training he now walks on a Halti which still gives me control should he pull too much. He can get very excitable should other dogs be running and playing around us, so a strong hand is needed to settle him down.
Jet does love the company of people and other dogs other dogs. An active family with lots going on and plenty of games, cuddles etc would be lovely for him
No cats please.
