Lance Has Been Homed

Lance black male

Lance, now re-named Lurch has been homed.

He has proved himself to be an extremely easy to look after house guest. He has not needed house training as he’s been clean from the outset, he is quiet, sociable with the other canines in residence and he can be left without problems for reasonable periods.

He is a tall, cuddly, castrated “teddy bear” of a greyhound who was born in April 2006. He is a leaner, meaning he is very fond of just leaning against your legs and spending time with you. Equally he enjoys any physical attention at all, but he is not pushy and will wander off to his bed if attention is refused. A real gentle giant indoors.

Lance can be strong on the lead. Most often he is reasonably well behaved with some reminder correction still needed, but when a squirrel, or strangely enough a heron is sighted this big lad can become acrobatic and very powerful. He’ll therefore need someone able to hang onto a 37kg plus missile in the event a chase worthy animal crosses your path. Lance readily accepts being walked in a Canny Collar (a type of head collar) however and this makes him far easier to control in those situations.

He travels well, laying down calmly for most of the journey and he can get in an out without difficulty. At times he plays stubborn and has to be reminded who makes the decisions about whether he gets in or out of the car.

Lance has a very healthy appetite, but he is non aggressive around food and respects the other dogs’ feeding time by waiting until they have walked away before emptying their bowls as well as his of any leftovers.

Lance has met other breeds of dog and given us no cause for concern around them. He would be suitable as an only pet or as companion to another dog or bitch of any size. He did unfortunately fail our cat test though, so no cats of other small fluffs for this boy please.

We feel Lance would be best suited to children aged 7 years plus purely as his size and weight (if at full speed playing) would be vast and therefore a danger to very young children if they were in his path.

Lance is not currently interested in toys.
