Wazza Has Been Homed

Wazza has been homed – 31.7.23.

Wazza is in foster care in Southampton, Hampshire, he arrived in our care on 25th May 2023 and he was born on the 5th April 2020.

This lad is a friendly, black and white boy who enjoys being outside with his human and canine friends.

Wazza can seem a little reserved, on first greetings but this gorgeous boy has a wonderful character, just waiting for you!

This chap LOVES to play, soft cuddly ones, balls or rope toys are his favourite.  He enjoys chasing after them and moving them between dog beds!  Wazza enjoys play bowing with his familiar human friends, but you will need to pass the ‘play bowing’ test before he tells us if he would to live with you!

Wazza is a young lad who has a lot to learn about the ‘outside world’.  He may give you the impression that he is a little bit reserved to begin with but if you kneel down to his level he will come to you for a quiet cuddle as he takes it all in around him.  He really is a sweetie.

This lad loves running around in the cool grass, he has started to show an interest of playing in the sand but one thing that he is NOT a fan of his WATER!  Wazza is definetly not a water baby and go to extreme levels not to get wet.  This works well for him but not when a ‘Cool Coat’ is put on him and then he sulks!  After a little persuasion, some special treats he will then accept that it will keep him cool!

This adorable lad really enjoys cuddles with his human friends, he certainly is a real leaner.  Wazza loves being brushed, he currently still has his kennel coat, he is being brushed twice a day to remove it and he is certainly enjoying that extra special time.  It won’t be long until that shiny black and white gloss has taken over his beautiful coat.  Wazza’s markings are very unique, although the markings may look like other breeds of dog I can reassure you that he is DEFINITELY a greyhound!

Wazza is now house trained, used to walking on different floorings, he can walk up and down outside steps – steep and ramps too!  He understands the house rules, he doesn’t jump up on the cabinets in the kitchen, but it would be safer to put food away, just in case as this boy is a real FOODIE!  Wazza eats nicely, has no food aggression, takes treats gently from you and is a real DREAM to have in your home.  He is a good boy at night and sleeps all though until morning, with a clean bed and a lovely welcome from him to you as his good morning ‘hello’.

This lad is already sharing his foster home with 9 other greyhounds; three of which are girls and 6 boys.  Wazza gets on with them well, he isn’t a dominant boy and is always so relaxed in whatever he is doing.  The boy also shares his garden with six chickens, he has seen them from afar and close by and shows no interest in them.

He has met other breeds of dog of all sizes and a lot of different ones, after visiting ‘Dogstival!’.  After the first bit of excitement, as he didn’t know who to say ‘hello’ to first, Wazza was then very happy to walk passed dogs, give them a sniff or let them have one back, nothing fazed him at all.  Wazza would be suitable to live with other breeds, careful introductions would need to be carried out first, he would probably prefer a dog that isn’t too ‘fluffy’ as this may trigger any chase instinct left inside him.  We are very pleased how quickly he has adapted to the outside world and in particular being around other breeds of dog.  Wazza is definitely a quick learner!

Wazza enjoying a day out.

Wazza LOVES his walks, every day is a new location which he very much enjoys.  He can walk very nicely on a lead, sometimes it is just too exciting for him and you will find a bit more pressure coming of the lead.  He is currently walked on a Canny Collar  which takes that pull away and means everybody can enjoy the walk together.  It won’t be long and Wazza won’t need this collar as most of the time he walks very nicely next to you.  He has learned to walk next to a pushchair and a mobility walker, he adapts his speed according to his walker, what a clever boy we have here.

This chap can easily jump in and out of the car for his outings, he may try to tell you he can’t, especially after a walk but don’t be fooled!

Wazza could be homed as an only dog or with another dog of either sex.  He is used to being left in the house, he likes to listen to Radio One whilst you are out!

He would be best suited to a home with children over 8 years, he is a gentle soul and would like extra cuddles from someone small who understands dogs and how to approach and behave around bigger dogs.

Wazza doing what greyhounds do best!

Don’t miss out on this lad, I have a feeling he won’t be with us long!
