Finally, We're Back to Being Open as Usual!

We are very pleased to announce that finally we are back to being open as normal today! The recent icy and snowy conditions prevented us from welcoming visitors on safety grounds. We are open from 11am until 1pm daily.

We are very grateful for the co-operation of our dog walkers, customers and visitors alike who stayed away through this period. Conditions under foot and at times in vehicles were undoubtedly treacherous and we are very happy to see the snow and ice finally gone.

Please rest assured that all the dogs remained well cared for throughout the awful weather. Our staff worked exceptionally hard in difficult circumstances to make sure of that and we thank them for their dedication.

Below you’ll find a few photos of some of our residents enjoying a romp in our snowy paddock. A change of routine for them all, but one that they all seemed to enjoy over this period of inclement weather. Please note that although the some of the greyhounds look rather fat in these pictures it’s really just the multiple layers of coats that give that impression (with the possible exception of Noo Noo who could perhaps lose a pound or two and still remain of cuddly build).

We certainly have a few canine football stars in the making as a result of more frequent paddock play times. Tiger, Sonny and Ellie especially are greyhounds who could excel in a canine 5 side football team!

Pet Blood Bank:

Our next scheduled Pet Blood Bank session is on Sunday 17th March. If you have not already booked your dog in to become a lifesaver by donating blood then please call Pet Blood Bank on 01509 232222. More information about canine blood donation can be found on our Pet Blood Bank Information Page.

Bric a brac items are needed again:

Good quality new or used items suitable to sell on a bric a brac stall would be very welcome. It’s surprising how quickly the fete and fair season begins, if we start collecting now we should be well stocked for the fair season. Unwanted Christmas gifts very welcome.

Saara will be running a fundraising bric a brac stall at Cranleigh on Saturday 9th March for us so if you can help her be well stocked for the event we’d be very grateful.

Don’t let Lungworm kill your dog!

Please be aware of Lungworm, it’s a killer that many of you won’t necessarily have heard of. It is spreading fast in the UK and many dogs have already died from it. Don’t panic however as Lungworm is very easy to prevent and equally if diagnosed early it can be treated very successfully too. Late diagnosis of Lungworm does not always have a happy ending however.

The following link will take you to a Lungworm Information site. For preventative treatment of lungworm you will need to contact your vet. Treatment/prevention of  Lungworm is by prescription medication only.
