Let's Here It For The Boys!

Update from the kennels:

It’s been another busy month with viewings and homings.  Greyhounds have been arriving for their health checks, assessments, neuturing and then finding their new homes fairly quickly.  Well done to all those lucky families who have homed one of our gorgeous hounds!

With all this happiness we do have some sadness too.  Our bouncy boy Thumper is still waiting for the his chance at home life.  He has seen all his friends move in and then out again, he has made friends with all the new arrivals and then watched them leave too.

Thumper may be big and a strong lad but he is a very sweet, cuddly boy too!  His energy can be chanelled and he listens very well to his handler.

Watch out for his own ‘claim to fame’ in the week on our Facebook Page where he will be telling his story.

Here are a few photos of him whilst you wait to see Thumper’s story.

You will have no dull moment with this boy.   He will enjoy all aspects of family life with you and although he is five, he really is a young dog inside, he has been waiting for nearly two months now for his own home, all his friends have got homes but still Thumper waits on, with a smile still on his face!

Homings During COVID:

We do take our viewings and homings very seriously and we would ask you to do the same before making contact.

For all our dogs during this pandemic we are carrying out a significant amount of checks on any potential adopter, just like we always do, however we need you to play your part and actually seriously THINK before you adopt.

Please ask yourself:

Do I know enough information about this breed of dog?

Can we afford to keep the greyhound? (Vet bills, cost of equipment, monthly food allowance, parasite control, insurance etc)

If you go on holiday who is going to look after the dog?

If you have to return to work after the current lockdown, who is going to come into the house, to see to the dogs needs so they are only left 5 hours max?

Can you be sure you are going to continue to work from home after lockdown has finished?

What would happen if you were unwell?

Are you prepared to housetrain the dog?

Are you willing to take the greyhound out for their walks each day, even in the rain or when you are busy?

Will you get up at night if they need the toilet or are unwell?

We hope the above questions are a good starting point, for people who are seriously thinking of adoption a greyhound.

If you have any questions about adopting please do get in contact, we will be very pleased to talk to you about it.
