Oldest and Youngest go Home!

We are very pleased to let you know that recently Jerry, our eldest resident who is a complete gentleman of a greyhound at 9 years has been adopted. Tia, at just 2 years old and our youngest resident has also been adopted. Both of these greyhounds are doing well and settling in nicely with their respective families.

Gromit, a 5 year old blue male is our latest arrival. He has a brief description only on site for now as we are still getting to know him.

Tomorrow we will welcome Rosie to the kennels. She is a very timid little girl of just 4 years. She’s going to need a little time to settle in, get to know us and gain in confidence before being ready to go home so she may not appear in our adoption gallery immediately.

Curly however is a very lucky lad and he will be leaving the kennels tomorrow and heading off into foster care. We wish him well and we’ll miss his antics with a tennis ball, but we hope that his experience of home life will help him to find his elusive adoptive home very soon.

Curly black male

Curly who is lucky enough to be heading off to foster care. He has passed our cat test and could learn to live with cats, but he’s rather scared of children so we are looking for an adult home for this lovely boy.

Web site:

Some of you may have experienced problems accessing this web site recently. We are in the process of changing hosting companies. Please bear with us while this transition is in progress it has to be done by volunteers who have other commitments so an instant fix has not been possible. We hope to be back to a full and more responsive web site very soon.

New arrivals:

Gromit is new in and we are imminently expecting Rosie too.

Information about all our available greyhounds can be found in our Greyhounds Needing Homes Gallery.

Homed Greyhounds:

Jerry, Tia, Rosa and Sparky have been homed.

Reserved Greyhounds:

Roger and Blitzen are reserved.

Greyhounds in foster care:

Niki and Jet are in foster care and Curly will be too from 26/10/13. If one of our foster dogs interests you as a potential new family member then you simply need to call us and we’ll arrange a mutually convenient date and time for you to meet him/her.

With thanks to Jollyes Pet Store:

We are very grateful to the management and staff of Jollyes Pet Store in Southampton for allowing us to hold a Meet and Greet in their store on Saturday 19th October. Jet and Bonnie our canine representatives on the day were extremely well behaved and between them they generated plenty of interest in greyhounds as pets, they also managed to do a little fund-raising too.

Meet and Greet and Jollyes

Jet and Bonnie with two of the Jollyes Pet Store employees during the recent meet and greet. Thank you Jollyes Pet Shop, Southampton for making us feel so welcome.

We hope to be able to visit Jollyes store again in the future as their hospitality was very gratefully received and a good day had by all involved.

Foster Home Appeal:

We need more foster homes. Ideally we are looking for foster homes within easy traveling distance of Fleet, Wokingham, Alton or Southampton as we have trusted volunteer team members in those areas who would be able to assist with viewings if a trip to the kennels was not possible.

Abbie black greyhound
Abbie an ex-foster dog has been a year in her adoptive home now. Fostering really help us know the dogs and it gives them a taste of the future. Could you do it?

We prefer foster carers who have some experience of dog ownership and training. Homes without cats and young children are especially sought because homes with young children and/or cats or inexperience dog handlers severely restrict our options of the greyhounds we could place with you.

If greyhound fostering is of interest to you, then please visit our fostering information page to see if it could be the route for you.

Lungworm can kill!

Please be aware of Lungworm, it’s a killer that many of you won’t necessarily have heard of. It is spreading fast in the UK and many dogs have already died from it. Don’t panic however as Lungworm is very easy to prevent and equally if diagnosed early it can be treated very successfully too. Late diagnosis of Lungworm does not always have a happy ending however.

The following link will take you to a Lungworm Information site. For preventative treatment of lungworm you will need to contact your vet. Treatment/prevention of  Lungworm is by prescription medication only.
