Our Longest Stay Greyhound is Reserved!

We are really pleased to be able to let you know that Blue, our longest stay greyhound has finally been chosen and he is now reserved. All being well he should be heading home within the week. We wish Blue and his soon to be family many happy years together. Well done Blue, it was worth the long wait in the end lad.

Christmas Homing Dates:

Please note that the last adoption day prior to Christmas will be Saturday 7th December. Normal homing will re-start on 1st January 2014.

Only in exceptional cases and in homes where there are no children resident will we consider relaxing this policy. The forthcoming holiday period can be a very stressful time for people and as such it is not generally a good time to bring a new dog into the home.

This decision has been made with the welfare of our greyhounds at the forefront of our minds. We hope that you understand our decision.

Viewings for greyhounds and potentially reservations will still be ongoing throughout the holiday period so please continue to check for updates on our web site.

If you aged 18 years and over then please feel free to pop along at 11am any day and help us to walk the greyhounds. Children are welcome to visit too, but only if accompanied at all times by their parent or legal guardian. First time visitors are requested to contact us in advance of their 1st visit to make an appointment and to be given direction to our kennels.

We are open daily between 11am and 1pm every day of the year (including Christmas Day).

Foster Home Appeal:

We need more foster homes. Ideally we are looking for foster homes within easy traveling distance of Fleet, Wokingham, Alton or Southampton as we have trusted volunteer team members in those areas who would be able to assist with viewings if a trip to the kennels was not possible.

Abbie black greyhound
Abbie an ex-foster dog has been a year in her adoptive home now. Fostering really help us know the dogs and it gives them a taste of the future. Could you do it?

We prefer foster carers who have some experience of dog ownership and training. Homes without cats and young children are especially sought because homes with young children and/or cats or inexperience dog handlers severely restrict our options of the greyhounds we could place with you.

If greyhound fostering is of interest to you, then please visit our fostering information page to see if it could be the route for you.

Lungworm can kill!

Please be aware of Lungworm, it’s a killer that many of you won’t necessarily have heard of. It is spreading fast in the UK and many dogs have already died from it. Don’t panic however as Lungworm is very easy to prevent and equally if diagnosed early it can be treated very successfully too. Late diagnosis of Lungworm does not always have a happy ending however.

The following link will take you to a Lungworm Information site. For preventative treatment of lungworm you will need to contact your vet. Treatment/prevention of  Lungworm is by prescription medication only.
