Ben Has Been Homed

Ben has been adopted.

He is a black, castrated male with a friendly, fun and confident disposition who was born in May 2007.

Ben generally walks nicely on a lead although he can be excitable if something triggers his chase instinct.

He has met other breeds of dog and given us no cause for concern around them if introduced calmly. He’d benefit from more “meet and greets” with other breeds just as many recently retired greyhounds would. Ben has great potential and someone who is prepared to put in a little work will be well rewarded by this lad’s favourable responses.

Ben would be fine as an only pet or as a companion to another canine of medium size and above.

Toys are not especially interesting to Ben, he’ll chase them if you throw them, but then he loses interest as soon as they stop moving. This lad is happiest playing with you as a companion rather than with actual toys.

He suit a family with children aged 10 years an over.

He’s been tested in a home and we’ve discovered that he can manage laminate flooring without problems, but he doesn’t like stairs.

No cats or small fluffies please.

The following report is from the Grant family who often take Ben out for him to experience life outside of the kennels:

Ben was taken for some days out to give him some experience of life away from a kennel environment. He was unsure initially about getting into a car, but after a few journey’s Ben learnt what was required and he was able to get in when asked to do so.

When walking ativanoral.com around in a busy environment Ben was initially quite strong on a normal Greyhound collar and lead. He is definitely strong if he sees anything to chase. He does, however, learn very quickly and is responsive to firm but fair handling. He seems to be fine around other dogs when calmly introduced, but he does still require more meet and greet practice before he’ll be reliably calm.

Ben can also be excitable when meeting people, but this is easily controlled and again more practice with this will teach him to be calm. We noticed a marked improvement in this area during his day’s out with us, so once again this boy shows the ability to learn quickly.

In the home Ben settled quickly, remaining a calm, peaceful dog that, when settled, you wouldn’t know you had in the house. Ben was not worried by any unfamiliar household items or indeed the lawn mower. He also toiletted appropriately, outside.

He can be a playful chap and he also adores a fuss.

To sum up Ben he is a lovely dog who loves human company and who will make a wonderful pet. He will need some training to keep him calm in certain situations, but he is a quick learner and we’re convinced he’d learn the correct behaviour in no time with consistent training. He has a loveable nature and readily accepts any fuss that comes his way. Ben has lots of love to give, he just needs his forever home so he can show you in person.
