Fury Has Been Homed

Fury has been homed – 7.1.23.

Over the Christmas period Fury moved from kennels into our home environment and he has been loving all the new things that he can now explore!

We have now updated his profile to show all the goals he has achieved in such a short amount of time.

Fury is in foster care in Southampton, Hampshire, he arrived in our care on 29th November 2022 and he was born on the 7th October 2018.

This lad is a friendly boy who is going to make a perfect addition to his new family.

Fury is very friendly, enjoys a good cuddle and bottom wiggle!  This lad has come straight from racing kennels, the outside world is all new for him.  Fury enjoys visiting new places and is always keen to explore somewhere new.  This may be a different walk, friends house – meeting fellow greyhounds or going into a cafe or pub, where he is made a fuss of and even is given some doggie treats too!

This lad has mastered the talent of jumping into the car so he can enjoy walks further afield.  Fury wasn’t sure to begin with and did need some assistance from his human friend but putting his feet up and then lifting his bottom in.  Fury can now do the whole jump all by himself.  He can be quiet tired after a walk and doesn’t always want to get out afterwards.  Fury can need some voice – encouragement to get out but once his friends have all jumped, he is the only one left he quickly changes his mind and jumps out!

Fury enjoying our Boxing Day walk at Sandbanks,

This lad has been very good with his toileting, he is totally toilet trained and asks his human friends when he needs to go, either by lots of sniffing or nudging your arm to get your attention.  Fury very quickly understood the house rules, he is very polite in the kitchen, when you are with him but he can take a chance when your back is turned, he is a typical greyhound quiet when he needs to be and food orientated!

He has been working on his manners around the ‘human feeding time’, he now will go and lay down or find a toy when his humans are eating and knows not to pester them.  This has been quite tricky for Fury as he ADORES food so much!  His new owner will need to reinforce this in his new home but he is a quick learner and wants to please his human.

Fury can be a lazy boy, particularly in the mornings, the normal wake up alarm doesn’t seem to apply to him, he will emerge from his bed when he hears the food bowls being filled up and normally not before!

Fury pretending he was comfy and that he hadn’t had a complete bed fail!

Once breakfast is over, he will try to sneak back to his bed, if he can!  Walking, playing, snoozing, cuddles and eating are his most favourite times of the day!

Playtime for this lad involves him enjoying squeaky toys, soft ones and magpieing all he can from around the house!  Fury doesn’t chew them, just collects, his bed always has a few strange things in it – slippers, toys, duster, a glove etc!

Sometimes he is having so much fun he doesn’t want to leave his toy behind, when going to the toilet in the garden so he may take it out with him but doesn’t always remember to bring it back in again.  We’ve had a few wet toys found the next day after they have been rained on!

Fury does enjoy rough play with his human friends, this can involve a little bit of mouthing which we are discouraging, the cheeky boy is adorable and his family, once found, are going to be very lucky to have him!

He just loves his cuddles and special time with his humans, he will lean in tight and cuddle right up to you, he really is a snuggly boy.  Fury will either put his head on your lap or put it on your shoulder or on your chest with his big eyes looking up at you, whilst he is having his fuss time!

Fury enjoys his 1:1 time when being brushed, which he quite likes especially that ticklish part of the neck!  He has his teeth brushed daily but if he had his way he would hide that toothbrush.  Fury is very good at having his teeth cleaned and will allow his human to clean them all.

This lad loves his food but isn’t a morning boy so breakfast doesn’t always get eaten but dinnertime and treats – not a problem!  Fury is fine around the other greyhounds in the house, he shares attention, although does his best to have it all to himself.

Fury is fine to be left in the house for a few hours, he can be left on his own or with his greyhound friends.  This lad is also crate trained but is equally happy to be left out with a nice comfy bed.

Stairs and different floors are no problem for the boy, he races up stairs inside and out at lightning speed.  Watch out if you are on the stairs too, stand still and move out his way, you don’t want to be knocked down by this superhero greyhound!

Fury has met a variety of other breeds on walks and up close.  At our Christmas Café Session – Fury was making friends with a Staffie that came to join us.

Fury meeting and playing with a Staffie.  (Fury is the black greyhound standing, in the middle).

He likes to say ‘hello’ to other dogs but is still learning to meet them correctly and not to go in too fast.  Fury can occasionally bark at other breeds but he only wants to play, however this can make the other dog unsure on what he wants.  He has made amazing progress so far and we are sure this will continue.

Fury is not phased by traffic and is confident to walk in a variety of places.  When he is a little unsure he will look at his human friends for reassurance before he continues with walking on.  He is very good on a lead and the majority of the time he will happily walk next to you on the lead but be prepared for that squirrel to run out infront of you!

Fury has another talent – he enjoys playing football or volley ball with a balloon!  He was very content popping or bopping the balloon with his nose, jumping high into the sky to reach it.  He enjoyed it more when a human friend played too but he definitely could jump higher than them!

Dara, Fury’s friend had been given a Christmas hat to wear, Fury had other ideas and quite liked it himself.  He thought that it would look a lot better if the ‘Pom Pom’ on it came off so he could play with it!  Unfortunately for him his human friend had spotted his plan and wouldn’t allow him to carry out his plan.  Fury has such a huge character and all he’s quirks will keep you entertained for many hours!

Don’t miss out on this gentle boy, give us a call and arrange that meeting.
