Parrot Has Been Homed

Parrot has been homed – 15.4.23.

Parrot is in foster care in Southampton, Hampshire, he arrived in our care on 26th February 2023 and he was born on the 2nd of October 2019.

This sweet, young boy will melt your heart, with his looks and his huge character.

Parrot can be a little hand shy until he gets to know you, but then he will greet you with a big waggy tail and lots of ‘Parrot’s’ cuddles and kisses’.  He can be a little wary around new people but once he trusts you he transforms into a different, loving boy and you will not believe that it is the same dog!

This lad enjoys a good conversation with you, especially if he is in he’s bedroom and you are outside!  Parrot can be an alarm clock too, he certainly knows when it is human get up time and then he disappears back to bed again!  One cheeky greyhound!

When it is play time, Parrot enjoys nothing better than a good game of chase me with his doggie friends and affection from his human friends.  This lad could be an only dog or live with another one.  Parrot could live with teenagers who are familiar with larger and more playful greyhounds.

Parrot has met a range of smaller doggie friends and enjoys playing with them.  He could live with other breeds of dog quite happily as long as careful introduction have taken place.

He loves his outings, travels well and is always very keen to get into the car, unaided. This boy can walk nicely on a lead and just likes being out and about with his human friends.

Parrot visiting one of his favourite places the cafe, lots of doggie treats on offer!

Parrot enjoys a good game of chase, with his kennel mates or with a selective few soft toys!  Watching him in an enclosed area, he dashes around at lightning speed, tight corners for the boy but for him, he is just doing what every greyhound does, which is having fun with his special human friends.

This lad will need a routine and some consistent rules abide by the whole family, he is a quick learner and could become a greyhound trying his luck!  Parrot can become very cheeky if allowed, who would have thought it from his sweet little face!

Parrot is house trained and understands some home rules.  He knows the words ‘no’, ‘off’ and his name (although he will deny this outside of the home environment)!  He is also learning what ‘wait’ is.  This lad knows what the kitchen is for and will try his luck if you’re back is turned by jumping up at the kitchen surfaces but a firm NO is enough for him to get down.  He is a real foodie!

He will need time to settle in to any new home environment and given that time to do it himself.  All dogs will take different amounts of time to do this but Parrot is used to home living and everyday noises so he should become familiar in his new home fairly quickly.  Parrot’s owner need to give him time and encouragement to allow this to happen.

Call the adoption line and come and meet Parrot – what a fantastic lad he is!

He already has a fan club at the kennels, we are all behind him, in finding his dream home and family.
