Rosie Has Been Homed

Rosie greyhound shy

Rosie has been homed.

She is an average sized, initially timid girl who once she knows and trusts you is extremely loyal and loving. She will likely always be skittish around strangers, but she has already improved in generally confidence in the short time she has been with us.

Rosie is good on a lead generally, but if scared she can be acrobatic in her bid to escape the source of her fear. A tight collar and a firm grip are essential.

She has met other breeds of dog and given us no cause for concern around them. She would be suitable as a companion to another dog or bitch of any size. She gains confidence from having another canine around.

We are seeking a calm home for this little girl without young children, but with someone who has a confident and calm manner in order that Rosie can continue to build her trust in people and be reassured by her handler’s calm and no nonsense demeanour.

Rosie loves to run and play with her canine companions and she’s happy to have a game of chase/play bow with you as well.

Foster report on Rosie after 2 weeks in foster care:
“Rosie is a delightful little girl who arrived on Monday and, as I write this on Sunday, seems to have been here for ever! She is a real cuddle bunny who is desperate to please and, learning from our two (Mackey & Cleo) has adapted to our daily routine unbelievably quickly.

Rosie is a perfect dog in the house, loves her food, is respectful of others at meal times, is inquisitive in every way, but is not pushy or a thief – the exception to that being that she does take slippers into her bed when we are out – but she treats them with respect too!

What a snuggly little girl Rosie is.

What a snuggly little girl Rosie is.

We’ve left her for reasonable periods with our two with no issues whatsoever (slippers excepted) and they happily sleep together in the kitchen overnight. Egged on by Cleo, she can do stairs with ease and she has no problems with different floor coverings.

She travels beautifully in the car, happily jumping in, curling up on the back seat with Cleo. She loves to play in the garden with her companions.

The outside world does frighten her initially and when spooked she can be acrobatic.  I am a petite 5’2″ and, with a firm grip, she gives me no problems, even when walking all three on my own. If you stand still and let the danger pass by her, rather than asking her to meet it head on, then she is more accepting.  She has met the regular dog walkers in the village and, following an initial reticence, now accepts them and their dogs with no issues whatsoever.

If we had room for a third dog on a permanent basis then we would have no hesitation……”

    • We think she’ll be staying with her foster family, but this is unconfirmed until next week. Please contact one of our adoption lines if she or any of our other greyhounds are of serious interest to you. Thank you. Marie
