Jo's Greyhound Blog: Show Time!

Show-Stopping Stars!!

A nice piece of alliteration Jo but what are you talking about?  Well let me press ahead immediately and tell you about a fabulous event we went to  – the RGT Fun Dog Show at Winterbourne Stickland, Dorset.  Why fabulous –  well because it showcases Greyhounds and what sociable, good-looking, funny and talented dogs they are.  And … in addition …. lovely brindle Greyhound Bridie, who is 13 years old and owned by our good friend Peter, won 1st place rosette for Best Veteran Greyhound aged 9 years plus.  Bridie – you are a gorgeous girl and a great example of ‘an elder stateslady!’

Anyway, on with the story!  It was a big day for our girl Trace, who has been battling arthritic pain lately but thanks to some great medication, she has improved in leaps and bounds.  And leaps and bounds is what she took in the Best Trick Class when she came third – not bad for a girl who was a bit wobbly on her old pins a few weeks ago.  Then she went into the Best Bitch 7/8 years and she came first – red rosette, trophy, photo –  hair extensions, false eyelashes (only joking!)

Paddy wasn’t going to be a ‘shrinking wallflower’ at this Show and he stepped up to the ‘Age 4 and Younger Class.’  He got third in this class and a lovely rosette.  Paddy can sometimes be over-looked in the whole scheme of things but he does have impressive muscle definition and a shiny black coat, four white socks and lovely brown eyes – he had his moment of success on the track and now in the show ring.

So … to all you folk with adopted Greyhounds old and new, put a smile on the face of you and your dog – go and support a show near you.  Get out and meet other owners and their dogs.  You, me, the RGT – we all benefit.
