Greyhound Lifeline Open Day!

We have finally set the date for our 2012 Kennel Open Day! It’s going to be on Sunday May 20th from 11am through to 2pm. We’ll have lots of stalls and fun events, plus a parade of our “stars of the show”, those greyhounds waiting for adoption.

Entry and parking will be free, although a donation of canned dog food or fish (tuna, sardines, pilchards etc) in oil, spring water or tomato sauce would be most welcome. Absolutely no fish in brine though please as salt is poisonous to dogs.

More information about events and stalls will be published nearer the day.

Our thanks go to Sunlight Laundry for not only donating, but delivering a cage load of towels to us for use as dog bedding.

Pet Blood Bank

We had a brilliant turn out for our emergency blood donation session on January 14th. Lots of greyhounds and other breeds came along to donate. 64 lives were saved from just that day’s donations.

Thank you to Lucy for standing in to help PBB after one of their staff was unable to come due to being in A&E. Get well soon Kath, we hope you are all better and able to join us for the March session.

Thanks also to Adrian for braving the cold to man the cakes, jams and pickes stall.

Our next session for blood donation has been scheduled for Sunday March 4th. Please register your dog with Pet Blood Bank for this session by contacting them on 01509 232222. Criteria for donation along with a full explanation about what to expect can be found on our Pet Blood Bank Information page.

Our Latest Appeal

Did you receive some Christmas gifts that just aren’t your thing? If you did, rather than hiding them in a cupboard somewhere perhaps you’d like to donate them to Greyhound Lifeline and help us raise funds for the greyhounds in our care? Items may be used as raffle prizes, tombola gifts, they may be priced and sold as is, or if they are a little more valuable we may be able to sell them on ebay.

We Need Foster Homes

We still need foster homes, can you help? If at all possible we try to avoid placing greyhounds that have been in homes, are older, or have disabilities into the kennel. It’s much nicer  for them if a home environment can be found for them.

All our foster spaces are full at present and poor Ernest really is not happy in kennels. He desperately need a foster home so he can relax and enjoy life. Jack too has waited far too long for a chance of home living, he’s getting older now and it’s high time he had the benefit of some home comforts. Information about greyhound fostering is available. Please note that a home visit and in depth discussion will be required before fostering can proceed.
