Merry Christmas Everyone!

It’s Christmas!

Lucy and Marie would like to wish all our volunteers and supporters a very Merry Christmas.

We have had another very successful year and we thank everybody who has supported us. Without your help with kennel cleanouts, feeds, dog walking, fostering, vet trips, fundraising, coat making, washing, mending, kennel maintenance, home checking, dog training, donations, purchases of food/merchandise etc we wouldn’t have been able to do our job of homing greyhounds as well as we do.

Razzle having a rest.

Ghost, Quackers, Soda, Buster, Merlin, Captain, Marshall, Hula, Dynamo, Amigo and Sparrow would like to say a huge thank you for all the donations that have been arriving at the kennels over the last few weeks. We are all so grateful for the goodies – doggie and human treats included!

We hope you all have a lovely Christmas and we look forward to working with you in the New Year, finding new homes for all the greyhounds that come into our care.

Festive Season Homing Dates:

Due to the excitement of the upcoming seasonal festivities please note that the last homing date for any families with children will be Saturday 7th December 2019. Normal homing will resume on Sunday 1st January 2020.

There may be an adoption or two, for exceptionally quiet homes without children, but each case will be judged purely with the best interest of the dog at the forefront of our minds.

Viewings and reservations will still continue through this busy time of year.

Pre-Christmas Clear Out?

Are you having an Autumn Clear out before the big ‘Christmas Day?’

Amazon Wish List:

Greyhound Lifeline has created its very own wish list, we have put together all the things that we use within the kennels to keep our greyhounds fit, healthy and enjoying life! If you would like to buy the greyhounds a Christmas present please visit our list.

To find this list please follow the instructions below.

  • Go to Find a List.
  • Enter the name – ‘Greyhound Lifeline’.
  • Click Search.

Once you’ve found the List you’re looking for, you can Click Remember if you’d like to save a link to it. Note: This step is optional.

Information about Rawhide:

Please be careful when buying your dog their Christmas treats, many shops are now selling extra special treats.

Rawhide is made from cattle or horse hides and their journey starts with the hide being soaked in a toxic sodium sulphide to remove the hair and fat. More chemicals are then used to spit the hide and give it, it’s “pure” white look.

On testing, these chews have shown traces of arsenic, mercury, chromium and formaldehyde.

Please keep your dogs safe this Christmas by leaving these chews in the shops.

Kennel Opening Hours:

Please note all volunteers (kennel hands included), visitors and customers must pre-book visits to our site which will involve bringing a non-resident dog on site.

We are asking for at least 24 hours’ notice of your dog’s arrival, details of the day/time you wish to bring your dog(s) and how many dogs you propose to bring. We will endeavour to give you a suitable appointment time, but please appreciate that we can only be as flexible as our lease permits and you may be offered an alternative time/day instead.

You can pre-book your dog’s visit by:

Email to [email protected], by text or phone to 07828 138378 (Marie) or 07769 348310 (Lucy).

The above pre-booking to visiting dogs only.

Bedding: Thank you for your donations, we are now full up again and we will update this page when we can accept more bedding.

Toys: If you have any soft toys that we could use for the kennel dogs we would be very grateful as our stocks are very low.

Fish: We are getting low on sardines and pilchards in tomato sauce which some of our kennel dogs are very partial too. I’m sure Dynamo would be very grateful if you could buy 1 or 2!

Ink Cartridges: Please save your empty cartridges, bring them along to the kennels so we can recycle them and make money for the dogs in our care.  Please note we cannot recycle laser/toner cartridges, thank you.
