Summer Holidays - Here We Come!

Our latest arrivals are: Dibble, Dabble, Skittle, Smartie, Vegas, Ember and Nova.

We hope you are all enjoying your summer holidays, if you have been allowed some time off work!

The kennels has been busy over the last few weeks, not only ensuring our current dogs are happy and coping with this extreme heat but also welcoming, all our new additions.

Yurok, (who is now reserved – one happy dog) – doing what he does best!

It may have been a little hot during the day but some of our kennel residents have benefited from our paddling pool, whilst the others who wouldn’t go near the water were given a cool coat to wear and could cool down, under one of the kennel fans and the shade from the gazebo.  Some of our kennel hands wanted to wear the cool coats too, shame they are just that bit small for them!

Oonagh one of our newest members, cooling her feet down!

In the last week we have gone from a few greyhounds to a kennel full!  Plenty of viewings have happened and now all our dogs have either gone to a new home or have been reserved and will be off soon!  We are very pleased for all of them and they all so deserve their own sofa!

This week we will be welcoming some more greyhounds into our care and when fully assessed they will be available for rehoming.  Keep an eye on our Facebook Page and website, you won’t want to miss out!

Full Opening of our Centre:

Many shops and other venues are beginning to open up again.

Due to the number of dogs we have at the kennels, the speed that they are being homed or going into foster care and the way we are working now, we will continue to be semi-closed but we are allowing pre-arranged appointments for both our shop and viewing of greyhounds to take place.

Since COVID started we have been working on a skeleton staffing, one kennel hand working each shift, with a manager on standy-by.  This way of working has been very effective for us and alongside the additional safety procedures in place, we have been able to keep the risk to our kennel hands low.

We feel we are not able to open fully and allow our walkers back on-site, due to the high risk that COVID could be transmitted to our kennel hands, whilst completing their shift.  If two or more of our kennel hands have to isolate or catch COVID then we will struggle to care for the greyhounds with us; with the reduced number of kennel hands available.

For these reasons we will stay closed to walkers, pre-arranged appointments only for everything else – viewings, homings and purchasing from our shop.  We will review our procedures again in September and will then update this page with more information.

Visitors who have a pre-arranged appointment, for the kennels, will be collected from the carpark by a kennel hand/manager.  We are asking all visitors to bring and use a mask whilst they visit us, hand sanitzer will be available, before entering.  We have lots of new items in our shop so make an appointment and come along to see us.  You will be very welcome!

To purchase items from our shop we will ask you to prearrange an appointment by either emailing or calling us on 07769348310.

If you wish to view or home a greyhound, cutting nails/corn treatment then these will all continue to take place but ONLY if they have been booked in, you will be given a pre-arranged appointment, by one of our managers, by calling the above number or emailing in.

We will update you when our situation has changed, with details on and how we will proceed forward, ensuring we keep everyone safe and allowing out centre to re-open.

Car-boot Donations – WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Our car boot duo are still working hard to bring those pennies in, for the greyhounds in our care.

Their stock is now very low with items, to sell at those car-boot sales.  We are asking you to please ask friends and family for suitable items that we could take of you.

Please keep your donations coming in folks, but please refer to our list of items that we can accept and also who to contact to pass on your donations.   See bottom of page for sale items.

Please do NOT drop items at our kennel premises, please contact us to find out our collection/drop off points.

Homings and Home Visits

During COVID, we have ensured extra checks on prospected new homes have been carried out by the team, to ensure our greyhounds will stay with their new family’s and not return to us after lockdown has eased.  This is and always has been a crucial part of rehoming our greyhounds.

Once you have homed a greyhound from us, our care to them and you doesn’t stop.  We will carry on supporting through phone calls or other means that we have agreed with you.  We are asking all our adopters to please contact us if they have any concerns or questions about their new pet, before it becomes a huge problem.  We really don’t mind what the question is or even if it seems like a daft one, we are here to help.

Please take time to think before adopting, at how you would cope with a range of situations and to ensure that dog/greyhound ownership is right for you and your family.  We are here to help so if you have any questions or just want to talk to us please pick up the phone and call us.
