Thank You Farnborough!

On Saturday 1st December, the team took to Farnborough for a Street Collection.

Despite the rain the Christmas shoppers came out and donated very generously to Greyhound Lifeline.

Whilst collecting the team were able to enjoy the Christmas songs being played!

We raised a massive £709.71!  Thank you to everyone who donated and of course to our wonderful team of volunteers who braved the very wet Farnborough.

A big thank you also goes to the gorgeous greyhounds who joined us on the street collection – Hammy, Ferret, Arty, Ice, Izzy, Jupiter, Star, Billy, Rocky, Annie, Blake, Spud, Munchkin and Reggie.

Updates:

We have won the wonderful sum of £2,000!

A big thank you to Pawz and Bonez for running a competition, to K & S Needham for donating the prize (specifically to be donated to the charity of the winner’s choice) and of course to the clever winner who was closest to guessing the correct amount of money in the jar.

Thank you to the winner for selecting us as their charity of choice too!

Thank you to absolutely everyone involved, a magnificent sum which will certainly help support the greyhounds in our care.

Christmas Homing Dates:

Due to the excitement of the upcoming seasonal festivities please note that the last homing date for any families with children will be Saturday 8th December 2018. Normal homing will resume on Tuesday 1st January 2019.

There may be an adoption or two, for exceptionally quiet homes without children, but each case will be judged purely with the best interest of the dog at the forefront of our minds. Viewings and reservations will still continue through this busy time of year.

Christmas Appeal:

Are you able to buy a small extra present this Christmas? If you are then our kennel residents would love to receive some Butcher tinned meat, grain free please! We get through a large amount of tinned dog food each year and the greyhounds really do love it on top of their dinners, especially tripe!

Lycan and Fizz, currently are on grain and gluten free diets, which means they need gluten free treats. They both would be rather grateful if you could buy them a bag of gluten free treats. All the dogs would be really thankful for your very kind donations and would be able to show you their gratitude through extra cuddles at the kennels!

Happy boy Fizz.

Our amazon wish list is also available for you to see other items we regularly use with our kennel greyhounds.

Information about Rawhide:

Please be careful when buying your dog their Christmas treats, many shops are now selling extra special treats.

Rawhide is made from cattle or horse hides and their journey starts with the hide being soaked in a toxic sodium sulphide to remove the hair and fat. More chemicals are then used to spit the hide and give it, it’s “pure” white look.

On testing, these chews have shown traces of arsenic, mercury, chromium and formaldehyde.

Please keep your dogs safe this Christmas by leaving these chews in the shops.

We are getting low on soft toys for our kennel hounds, if you have any spare dog toys at home that you wouldn’t mind donating, our greyhounds would love to have them!

Please can we ask that they are non-squeaky toys, thank you.

Fundraising:

Our fundraisers are getting low on stock. Do you have a selection of unwanted gifts that you are wondering what to do with? Do you need a clear out before Christmas?

If you do then we’d love to receive them for fundraising purposes. Un-opened smellies, perfume, childrens’ toys, games (board and electronic), jewellery and small electrical items including power tools, radios, computer accessories are most wanted.

Thank you to all who donate and support our work. Please contact us for information about where to drop off donated items.

If you are unsure about the suitability of your items please email our fundraising team on – [email protected].
