Bobby Has Been Homed

Bobby brindle pup 2

Bobby has been homed.

He has a home offer which has been approved subject to further fence work and continued meetings between Bobby and his new family under the guidance of our behaviourists. Bobby is a youngster who due to his history we have to be 100% sure that the home offer received is the right one for him. His new owner and ourselves need to work through any/all issues and get to a point where there are no doubts that Bobby’s future happiness and welfare will be assured in this home.

Things however are looking very promising since Bobby’s potential new adopters have not been put off in the slightest by all this and they too want only the best decision based on Bobby’s welfare.

He is a still growing adolescent lurcher male (castrated) who was born in February 2013.

From what we understand Bobby has had a difficult start in life having already had at least 3 homes. We were asked to assist with finding him a forever home suited to his age, training and needs so Bobby has been transferred into our care. Sadly none of Bobby’s previous homes were the right environment for a naturally lively, inquisitive and challenging pup/adolescent to grow up in.

This lad has likely has his confidence knocked by all the changes in his life so he’ll need consistency, calm and clear leadership to thrive and develop into a well adjusted and delightful pet that we are sure he could be in the right hands.

Bobby does’t need sympathy or to be allowed to do whatever he wants. He needs an owner he can look up to and respect as being the decision maker for him. He needs to know what his role is and he needs to be confident so that he can enjoy his future to the full giving as much pleasure as he receives.

Please note: Puppies and adolescent dogs are plain hard work. One with an unstable start in life may be extra hard work. We will be very careful about placing Bobby. For his sake we absolutely must make sure that the home he goes to is fully dedicated to succeeding with an adoption that could be challenging in ways we do not yet know about. Whoever takes him on must be prepared to give him a home for life no matter what problems need overcoming on the way.

We are looking for someone with plenty of time to exercise and train a youngster to take on Bobby. You’ll need to be around most of the day as some issues we are aware of are that Bobby can escape from a crate (possibly a room) and he’s also previously been destructive in the home. Hardly surprising when left for 10 hours a day on his own, but it’s behaviour he’s learned that needs to be overcome and channelled into something far more acceptable and useful.

On the plus side Bobby is sociable with all other breeds of dog, he has spent the few days living with cats and has not proved at all problematic in that respect. We are also told that he is well behaved around children (although jumping up can be a problem). A very affectionate and loving boy, but one that is not for the faint hearted.
