Lola Has Been Homed

Lola has been homed – 10.10.22.

Lola is in foster care near Southampton, she was born on the 13th March 2019 and came into our care on the 7th July 2022.

She is a friendly, happy and a fun loving girl!  This girl loves water, she will seek out some after a walk, for a nice cool down or just for her playtime!  Lola has been caught putting her feet into her drinking bowl to cool them, plenty of towels needed for this water, baby greyhound!

Lola loves cuddles and being with her human friends, she would be happy to live on her own if her owners were around most of the time or could be homed with a non-dominant male.

Lola has come straight into foster care where she has been learning about home life.  She is currently sharing a home with four other greyhounds.  Lola has learnt that counter surfing isn’t a good idea and actually if you keep all four paws on the floor you get even more attention!

This little, smiley girl enjoys laying infront of a fan on a hot day, she is fine walking on laminate, wood and tiled flooring.  Lola can be speedy at times especially if she has magpied something she shouldn’t have but she is a good girl and will let you retrieve the item!  Keep your wits with you whilst she is around, she loves to take anything in her path that you have put down, either on the floor or if she can grab it from any low level surface.  Her favourite items are shoes, the watering can hose and anything that isn’t hers!  What a cheeky girl but those eyes make it all forgiving!

Lola adores her toys and will amuse herself for hours with them, her favourite are the cuddly type, some she will destuff others she will settle down with whilst she has a quick nap!

Being young Lola has more energy, she loves to playbow with her canine friends and doesn’t understand why they don’t always want to playbow or bark back!  In these instants she will turn her attention to her human friends and will play with them instead.

House training is complete and she will let you know she needs to go outside to the toilet. Lola is crate trained and will take herself off into it for her quiet time.

Lola loves to go for a walk and she is keen to investigate any gap/driveway or step she discovers. She walks nicely on the lead but watch out for the wildlife that can make her excited!  If you like walking then this girl is right for you as she loves being out and about.

In her foster home she is meeting numerous dogs of various sizes and cats, she’s shows some interest and thinks – what creatures are they!  However she can walk pass nicely, taking her lead from her canine friends.  Lola sometimes will want to turn around to look but doesn’t get reactive by jumping in the air etc.  She is very responsive to training and her handling, she is quick at understanding what is expected of her.

Lola is a good eater and is not remotely fussy over food. You will need to keep a close eye on this girl so she doesn’t gain those extra pounds whilst enjoying her food!  If Lola is homed with another greyhound she will need to be separated around dinner times as she is still learning to not try and take food from her friend, she can be quite greedy!

This food eyed girl can be reactive to other dogs coming near her food, she needs to be fed and given treats separately away from other dogs.  Lola thinks she can eat hers and then go and eat someone else’s, even if they are still eating.  Although this has improved, this is a habit we feel she is always going to have.  Her new owners need to fully understand this and ensure feeding and treat times happen separately, if homed with a male, to avoid any negative or reactive behaviour.  As an only dog this wouldn’t be an issue.

This girl is active and enjoys a good game of ‘let’s play with toys’!  Lola could be homed to a family with older children – 12+ years.

Lola travels well, is keen and able to get into a car for her outings, she is still learning to wait whilst the car door is opened and wait her turn for getting out but this is improving daily.

No cats please.

Pick up the phone and ask to meet Lola, you will instantly fall in love with her!
