3 Cheers for Glenn!
A big thank you to Glenn one of our supporters, who had a real soft spot for recently homed Sherman. He followed Sherman’s progress on Facebook and decided to raise funds, to help support the work we do.
Glenn came to the kennels on Saturday to give Greyhound Lifeline £650, in May he carried out a 25km sponsor walk to raise funds for the charity. He also joined us today for our group walk. Thank you Glenn for all your hard work in raising this amount.
Glenn is pictured here with one of our longer stayer dogs Marshall who is eager to find his own home, that has plenty of footballs for him to play with! Can you out skill our Marshall? If you would like to know more about Marshall please follow the link.
We hope you are all enjoying the Summer weather and are taking care in the heat of yourselves and your pets. Below is some top tips to help your four legged friends.
- Walk your dog early morning or late at night when the temperature is cooler, try walking them in shady places and avoid tarmac
- Ensure your dog has access to cool areas inside
- Avoid car journeys and use air-conditioning if necessary
- Ensure your dog has access to clean fresh water, dogs may drink more in hotter weather so ensure their bowls are checked regularly
- NEVER leave your dog in a parked car during hot weather – dogs can overheat in a matter of minutes causing multi-organ failure and death
- Use cooling pads, fans or cooling coats to cool your dog down
- If concerned about your dogs excessive panting or unusual symptoms in this warm weather, contact your veterinary surgery for advice immediately.
