Christmas Appeal

Are you able to buy a small extra present this Christmas? If you are then our kennel residents would love to receive some canned fish (in spring water, oil or tomato sauce) or some canned dog food. No fish in brine please, since salt is toxic to dogs. We get through a large amount of tinned fish each year and the greyhounds really do love it on top of their dinners!  They would be really thankful for your kind donations.

Christmas and New Year Kennel Opening Hours:

Our Christmas and New Year opening hours will be the same as for every other day of the year that is from 11am until 1pm daily.

Christmas Homing Dates:

Please note that the last adoption day prior to Christmas will be Saturday 6th December. Normal homing’s will re-start on 1st January 2015.

Only in exceptional cases and in homes where there are no children resident will we consider relaxing this policy. The forthcoming holiday period can be a very stressful time for people and as such it is not generally a good time to bring a new dog into the home.

This decision has been made with the welfare of our greyhounds at the forefront of our minds. We hope that you understand our decision.

Viewings for greyhounds and potentially reservations will still be ongoing throughout the holiday period, so please continue to check for updates on our website.

Kennel Updates:

Thank you to The Holistic Hound and Horse show that took place on 29th and 30th November, they donated half of their charity raffle proceeds to Greyhound Lifeline.  Thank you also to some of our team who went along to the show to run our stall. You know who you are!

Another big thank you goes to a very nice couple Sarah and Angus who donated their car to us.  Paul Munson one of our ‘fix it men’ at the kennels very kindly fixed the clutch and was able to sell the car for Greyhound Lifeline.  Thank you Paul for all your hard work.

Upcoming Events:

We will be at the Ark on Sunday 7th December.  Please come along and meet some of our homed greyhounds.  All money raised is being donated to Greyhound Lifeline.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, for this event please leave your pets at home.  You may even see Santa!

Please come along.

Please take a look at all the lovely greyhounds, most have updated descriptions, in our greyhounds for adoption gallery.  We have some very friendly, loving greyhounds who have waited far too long for their forever homes.  Could you give one of our hounds their dream home?

Dogs in Foster Care:

Robbie, Lily and Reggie are in foster care. If one of our foster dogs interests you as a potential new family member then you simply need to contact us and we’ll arrange a mutually convenient date and time for you to meet him/her.

Stock Appeal:

Fancy having a pre Christmas clear out to make some room? We are in need of stock suitable to sell at car boot fairs or at local fairs/events. The things we need the most are DVD’s, CD’s, children’s toys, board games and console games.

Used Postage Stamp and Ink Cartridge Appeal:

Many of you may already know that the Retired Greyhound Trust collect used postage stamps to raise funds for the greyhounds in their care. For some of you collecting the occasional stamp here and there and finally getting around to posting a collection off may be a bit of a nuisance. We also collect old mobile phones.

Fundraise for us using eBay:

You can sell items on ebay and choose to donate between 10% and 100% of your sale price to Greyhound Lifeline. If you are an ebay member you could also simply donate by using your Paypal account. For ebay members only please visit their Sell for Charity page and enter “Greyhound Lifeline” in the Charity name area. If you are a UK tax payer please also tick the Gift Aid box. Please read ebay’s terms and conditions carefully as we cannot be held responsible for any problems you may encounter. Could you sell your unwanted items and help us to buy food, provide veterinary care and generally look after the greyhounds in our care at the same time
