Week 7.

Dear Greyhound Lifeline

Monday 17th

I was VERY wet this morning I needed three towels for my feet and the rest of me, on my second outing the rain had stopped. I’ve not been that wet in the six weeks I’ve been here.

Tuesday 18th

I was well behaved today, I walked WITH John, off my lead, I kept nudging him to get another titbit, he wasn’t able to say no  – it worked too.

Wednesday 19th

I fooled them last night. I went straight to my bed at bedtime and stayed there. When John came to give me my titbit I had to pretend I wanted it and had to disturb myself enough to lift my head in a very tired way and eat it, then flop down again.

Today when I took him out, I did another nudge – nudge walk, I’m getting him trained nicely now.

Thursday 20th

I’m upset. John terrified me last night. He took me out for my usual when I took him out  wee before bedtime, when I tried to come back inside, he bashed me over the head with a big thick yellow stick! I was too spooked I didn’t want to go past him to get inside. [Actually a torch taken to see what she’s doing and it WAS an accident]. I wasn’t having any of him today I gave him a wide birth running in circles around him, that annoyed him and upset me even more. I did weaken in the end to go and get that morsel he was offering. Later, they took me out in the car and I behaved and was sensible again. I came home and had a good sleep.

Friday 21st

I can’t tell them but I have been spooked by my feeding dishes I refuse to eat from them. They try everything to try to coax me but no way! They are stainless steel and on a raised stand. So they hold a porcelain dish for me.

[We are very puzzled by this behaviour and are at a loss of how to overcome it. She prefers to drink rain water out of a bucket outside now. She will eat dry food out of our hand, the same food that she won’t go near when it is in her stainless steel bowl, even when we hold that bowl she backs away.]

Saturday 22nd

When I came back with Joan, I took a long drink from my St. St. bowl! That fooled them, they didn’t know what to do about that.

Sunday 23rd

I balked at the St. St. dish again this morning.

When I took John out walking I ran up to Lucy (German Shepherd rescue) to see if she would play, she grabbed me – well my coat actually and she ripped it. John said it was a good thing I had my coat on, otherwise it might have been me.  At first the owner said it was not Lucy but the bushes!

It was a dog from along our road. A couple of hours later, the owner and her daughter came to apologise, John showed her Lucy’s teeth marks on my coat. The lady said she had come to pay for a new coat, she insisted and said it would make her feel better,  John said he would go halves.

Lots of Love

Lady
