Jubilee Greyhounds!

Greyhounds dressed for the Jubilee

Penny and Adrian’s six hounds (names on photograph) are all dressed up for the Jubilee celebrations. Penny and Adrian are extremely good at raising funds for us and at adopting hounds too!ย  Jam making, preserves, cake baking, tombola stalls, bandana manufacturing are just some of the ways Penny and Adrian raise funds. Although always busy, Penny is also very adept at creating fancy dress costumes for greyhounds and although not strictly fancy dress this time, the above photo seems very appropriate for the Jubilee weekend.

Great British Greyhound Walk

This year’s Great British Greyhound Walk is taking place on Sunday June 24. There are many walks going on throughout the UK and more information about individual events and start times can be found on the GBGW web site. It’s a great way to raise awareness of greyhounds and to get greyhound owners together too for a social. Some of the walks are also raising funds for various rescues.

Sunday Kennel Dog walkers:

Dog walkers, please be aware that on Sunday 24th June some of our kennel residents will be out with staff attending the GBGW events (see above). We won’t therefore have the usual full kennel of greyhounds for you to walk on that day.

Open Day Photographs

Photographs from the recent kennel Open Day are now on site.

New Arrivals:

Jet, Molly and Omaha are our most recent arrivals.

Homed greyhounds:

Lulu, Zulu and Jake have been homed.

Reserved Greyhounds:

Courtney, Cody, Abbie and Lucy are reserved.

Next Canine Blood Donor Day – Sunday June 10th

Our next quarterly Pet Blood Bank blood collection session is booked for Sunday 10th June. Please call Pet Blood Bank on 01509 232 222 to book an appointment for your dog and save the lives of up to four other dogs! Acceptance criteria apply, please read our Canine Blood Donor page for more information.

New Greyhound Blog:

Jo has a new Greyhound Blog on site. We hope you enjoy it.

Jam Jar Appeal:

We need more empty jam jars with lids please. Anyone that comes to the kennels occasionally, please ask your friends and neighbours to collect them too. We are very low on 1lb jars especially. This means that Penny and Adrian won’t be able to make much more home made jams or pickles for us to sell until we get more jars for them to use.

We are also in desperate need of small items suitable as tombola prizes. Unwanted stationery, smellies, small toys etc all make good tombola prizes. No food products please.

Please also keep up the donations of all sorts of good quality, unwanted items. We can use all sorts of things in one way or another, big or small. Items may be used as raffle prizes, tombola prizes, get sold on bric a brac stalls or even get put on ebay to raise funds.

Looking to adopt a greyhound?

Please visit our Greyhounds Needing Homes Gallery to see details of all our available greyhounds.

We Still Need Foster Homes – Can you help?

If you think you might be able to foster a greyhound then please read our Greyhound Fostering Information page.

Cat Test Passes:

Cloud, Bizzle and Tilly have passed cat tests and with caution in the early days we feel they would be able to learn to live safely with cats.

Foster Dog Updates:

Abbie is reserved!

Phoebe is doing well in her foster home. She is beginning to learn not to fret if she’s left alone. There’s a way to go yet, but it’s positive news.

Dan has recently moved into foster care and he too has turned into a smashing pet. Please give Dan a chance and ask to meet him. He’s one of those dogs who is a bit reticent until he knows you, but the lad has oodles of love and loyalty to give. Think what you could discover about him if you were to give him a chance to know you. Just look at Dan below, what a relaxed boy he is.

Sponsored Slim:

Fiona Selby is aiming to lose 2 stone in weight and has offered to raise sponsorship for Greyhound Lifeline through her efforts. Her local Weigh Watchers group in Northamptonshire will verify whether or not she succeeds and/or how much she manages to lose.

If you’d like to offer Fiona some incentive to succeed and help raise funds for us at the same time then please email us atย [email protected] giving your name and address (including postcode) and details of how much you wish to sponsor either in total and we’ll fill in the form for you.

Those of you who pay UK tax please let us know whether you agree or not to us claiming Gift Aid on on your sponsorship to increase the amount we receive at no additional cost to you.

Fundraise for us using eBay

You can now sell items on ebay and choose to donate between 10% and 100% of your sale price to Greyhound Lifeline. If you are an ebay member you could also simply donate by using your Paypal account. For ebay members only please visit their Sell for Charity page and enter “Greyhound Lifeline” in the Charity name area.

If you are a UK tax payer please also tick the Gift Aid box. Please read ebay’s terms and conditions carefully as we cannot be held responsible for any problems you may encounter. Could you sell your unwanted items and help us to buy food, provide veterinary care and generally look after the greyhounds in our care at the same time?
