Beware of the Firework Season:

Fireworks are enjoyed year-round by people but can be a source of fear for many animals. There are various methods you can try to alleviate the terror that some dogs (and other animals suffer) at this time.  Planning ahead can help your dog cope with the firework season. Talk to your vet about pheromone diffusers or collars. These disperse calming chemicals into the room and may be a good option for your dog.

Regardless of how your dog (or cat maybe too) copes there are a few basics that are worth checking, in case the worst happens and your pet escapes you or your property from sheer terror. Please check not only that your pet’s collar is tight enough to stay on if he/she should become scared, but also check that the ID tag is both attached and fully legible too. Many tags suffer worn engraving over time and they become virtually illegible. If you use the barrel type of ID please check that it’s intact and still complete with the vital contents. If you have moved home did you remember to re-register your pet’s microchip details to the new address and phone number or indeed replace the ID tag with one bearing up to date details?

Street Collections:

October has been a very busy month for us all, we have had two more street collections which were very well attended, by collectors and our supporters.

Morrisons Collection

We raised at Morrisons (Fleet) – £267.46 and in Farnham £432.91.  Thank you to everyone who came along and those that donated so generously too.

Farnham Collection.

We still have two more collections for this year –

  • Saturday 13th November – Meadows
  • Saturday 4th December – Farnborough

If you would like to help at one or more collections, please get in contact by either emailing [email protected] or phoning 07769348310.

Each collection is split into shifts, this ensures our two, three and four legged volunteers stay awake and nobody gets too cold!  All collectors can have as many greyhound cuddles as they wish!

We are recruiting new volunteers, to help at these events, please get in contact if you would like to get involved.

Kennel Opening Hours:

Please note we are still working on limited staffing and all appointments need to be booked in.  Do not turn up without an appointment as you will be turned away. We are working in this way to protect everyone and to keep our centre open and remain a lifeline for the greyhounds needing to come in.

All appointments will be given a specific date and time to come along, this is for all viewings, homings and purchasing goods for our shop.  Please try to keep to your given time so we can run as smoothly as possible.  If you get stuck in traffic trying to reach us, if possible, please give us a call so we know, this way we might be able to rearrange appointments so you do not have to wait too long when you reach us.

Pre-arranged Appointments:

Upon arrival, visitors will be met at our gate or car/park and escorted onto our premises.  We are asking all visitors to bring and use a mask whilst they visit us, hand sanitzer will be available, before entering.  We have lots of new items in our shop so make an appointment and come along to see us.  You will be very welcome!

In order to visit us please make an appointment by phoning 07769348310 or emailing in.  We cannot let you inside if you do not have a pre-arranged appointment.

Homings and Home Visits:

Once you have homed a greyhound from us, our care to them and you doesn’t stop.  We will carry on supporting through phone calls or other means that we have agreed with you.  We are asking all our adopters to please contact us if they have any concerns or questions about their new pet, before it becomes a huge problem.  We really don’t mind what the question is or even if it seems like a daft one, we are here to help.

Please take time to think before adopting, at how you would cope with a range of situations and to ensure that dog/greyhound ownership is right for you and your family.  We are here to help so if you have any questions or just want to talk to us please pick up the phone and call us.
