Good News!

Cheetah has had his surgery by the orthopaedic vet to mend his broken hock.  He has undergone a procedure which involves inserting a metal plate and having a bone graft in the lower part of his hind leg to fuse the bone together.  He is now back in his foster home, where he is having strict rest and regular visits to the vet for bandage changes until the swelling has reduced enough for the dressing to be left off.  If all goes to plan Cheetah will be fully recovered in 2-3 months time and free of pain. We will keep you posted on his recovery.

Pet Blood Bank:

We need canine blood donors! If your dog is 25kg or more, healthy and aged between 1 and 8 years old he/she could save the lives of up to 4 other dogs from just one blood donation.

We are hosting our next blood donation session on Sunday April 17th. Appointments are normally available for donations between 10.30am and 4pm.

If you are interesting in booking an appointment and saving other dogs’ lives then please call Pet Blood Bank on 01509 232222 for more information and/or your appointment. We hope to have a busy session. One day a blood donor may be responsible for saving your dog’s life.

Kennels Open Day:

This years Open Day will be on Sunday 22nd May 11-3pm.  Please mark on your calendar and lets make it another huge success.  More information about the day will be made available nearer the time.

A plea from a couple of the stall holders – anyone who has any spare pots or tubs would you be so kind to donate them to the kennels?  Please deliver to the kennels so we can pass them on to the family who are busy planting ready for the big day!

We are in need of raffle prices, if you have anything that would be suitable – smellies, wine etc please bring it to the kennels and place in our office.  Thank you.

March has been a very difficult month on the greyhound front, we were devastated by the loss of our lovely boy Tazer, we had two older greyhounds join us needed major dentals, Meerkat had to spend some time at the emergency vets and Cheetah underwent major surgery to mend his broken hock. This was on top of the routine veterinary operations undertaken each month.  We are happy to say the two older greyhounds have fully recovered along with Meerkat and the first stage of Cheetah’s treatment seems to have been a success.

We are very thankful to all of our supporters, who have helped us through a difficult month.  Thank you to everyone who has been very generous with the donations, that have come in to help pay for these very big veterinary bills, without this financial support we would be struggling now to pay these bills.  If you are able to offer us a little financial assistance then please click the “Donate” button above. Any contribution no matter how small will help fund these necessary treatments.

Bomber who was homed on Friday is settling into his new home very well.  His new family are very proud to have him in their home.  We wish them well and hope he continues to enjoy his forever home.

Available Greyhounds:

Please take a look at all the lovely greyhounds, most have updated descriptions, in our greyhounds for adoption gallery.  We have some very friendly, loving greyhounds who have waited far too long for their forever homes.  Could you give one of our hounds their dream home?

We still have, many long stayer greyhounds that joined us early 2015 or before this and are still looking for that special home.  These dogs are Hammy, Willie, Jake, Suzi, Susie and Lyric.  Please take a look at these greyhounds and hopefully 2016 will bring them homes of their own.
